American universities spent the last decade having to pretend that intelligence, the most defining human trait, emergent from biology, is neither adaptive nor heritable. A waste of a decade.
New from David's Reich's lab: "In the past ten millennia [in Europe], we find that many hundreds of alleles have been affected by strong directional selection," including those influencing human intelligence. nature.com/articles/s41586-0…

More like 70+ years. All started with the Soviet Union and gulaging their scientists that believed in DNA for sluggish schizophrenia and sabotaging the Soviet Union

One of the single most heritable traits we know of! 80% of identical twins will have the exact same IQ at 65.

Now they are using YEARS OF SCHOOLING as a proxy for intelligence, at a time when DEI has taken over universities and people are getting PHDs in gender madness. Now the 35 year old person who has never had a real job, with $400k in student loan debt and a PHD in basket weaving and interpretive dance, is the genetic definition of a super genius.

It was longer. In the 80s saying that IQ was heritable would get you in real trouble.

If we can breed and domesticate animals to have certain characteristics including intelligence there’s absolutely no reason to think we haven’t also been instinctively doing that to ourselves. Seems preposterous to not assume this until proven otherwise, instead of the opposite.

Decade? Go back at least until Margaret Mead's work from the late 1920s and 30s.

It’s insane most libs still believe it. A few months ago there were tweets with tens of thousands of likes mocking conservatives for thinking intelligence was like an assigned rpg score and not something you gain via education.

IMHO it's unfair to pin this exclusively on American Unis. Look up the linguistic turn and the effect that had on traditionally empirically driven endeavours. It was _weaponised_ (if you like) initially through American political machines, but it wasn't exclusively from there.

It’s heritable. The issue is Africans and Europeans refuse to accept that Asians are more intelligent than them 😂

Far from being the most defining it’s not even easy to define intelligence in a particularly useful way. I think you’ve missed the more important takeway here.

I went to university 50 years ago and can attest this has been the case for at least 50 years.

And the most brutal thing is universities do a great deal increasing knowledge....but not intelligence, which is largely fixed and heritable. And in the real world, it is intelligence that is most important. That is why school is nothing like the real world.

Some academics even try to pretend that intelligence doesn’t exist in the first place, and that “we’re all smart in our own way” When confronted with the mountains of evidence to the contrary, they lob accusations of racism, even when race was not mentioned

Американцы произвели подмену понятий. Интеллект они заменили навыками и назвали их интеллектом. Навыки не наследуемы. Но интеллект, связанный со скоростью их набора, наследуем более чем
