🇦🇪 🇶🇦 🇸🇦 🇮🇷 🇺🇸 “Gulf states have called for a reset on Iran, with the United Arab Emirates urging a “new mindset” and Qatar advocating for a regional “security framework” with Tehran after the war exposed their vulnerability to Iranian attack and tarnished the US’s credibility in the Middle East.” (…) “Saudi Arabia has also discussed the idea of a non-aggression pact between Middle East states and Iran since the war erupted, diplomats and analysts said, as part of talks with allies on how to manage regional tensions once the conflict ends.” ft.com/content/2a0d724d-b2be… via @AliVaez via @FT

Yemen has to be part of this equation. You cannot build a new regional security framework with Iran while leaving Yemen unresolved. If Saudi Arabia is serious about non-aggression and lasting stability, it must pursue a political settlement with Yemen, respect Yemeni sovereignty, end the siege and military escalation, and allow Yemenis to determine their own future. There will be no durable peace in the region without peace in Yemen.

Under UN Resolution 3314, Arab states hosting US bases used for US-Israeli arms supplies, refueling, espionage, and airstrikes are complicit in the genocide in Gaza, ethnic cleansing in Lebanon, and a war of aggression on Iran. As US proxies they are not sovereign.

A non-aggression pact with Iran is not enough. The deeper issue is non-interference. Even without open war, Tehran has projected power through Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Yemen and the Palestinian territories. Without an equally genuine Iranian mind reset on intervention, mistrust will persist and peace will be no more than a truce.

This man has just accused Iran of not being interested in peace - we can't trust any of these so-called Muslim leaders. They are the real hurdle to peace in the world.

Arab states are US proxies, hosting bases & intercepting missiles for Israel. Under US burden-sharing strategy, Saudi Arabia massacred Yemenis in a US proxy war for years. US uses proxies in Europe, middle east—Arab states & Israel to wage wars on US behalf to sustain hegemony

My updated & updating thread on some of the bigger-picture issues—including the U.S. midterms (tweet 40) & exclusive reporting from an Iranian in Iran—not being talked about enough when it comes to this Iran, U.S., Israel war metastasizing before our very eyes
🧵1-TLDR we're fighting for unclear "objectives" in what is primarily a military & narrative warfare campaign, but Iran is simply responding by waging super-obvious, easy to grasp economic & political warfare, inflaming public opinion & tanking the economy, Trump's exact fears🤦‍♂️

The harmonistic attempt to align these differing statements on Iran overlooks the wartime gaps that sparked flawed assumptions about a unified 'Gulf will' - treating it as a real significant entity rather than the desire of weakened actors like Qatar.

I think the most important factor here is the Gulf states’ conviction now relying on the United States has been a foolhardy policy. On the hand hand, Iran will always be a challenger, security arrangement or not.
