A married man Satya Prakash Jatav allegedly killed his live-in partner, nursing officer Snehlata Pandey, and threw her body into the Pachnada river in Etawah, UP.
The spot is where five rivers meet and is home to crocodiles.
The body not found.
He took her on a bike on 8 October, saying he would show her Kanpur and take her shopping. He killed her and thrown into river and after 5 days filed missing complaint.
Her father, Sanjay Pandey, alleged that the accused hid his dalit identity and claimed to be a Brahmin to trap his daughter.
Snehlata had been demanding to be accepted as his wife. The couple has a 10-month-old son, whom the accused left with his first wife on 8 October.
Another woman is gone, and her body may never be found. How many more women must be killed by the men they trusted before we treat this as a crisis?
