Congress must do everything in its power to shut ICE down permanently, even if that means shutting down the federal government. The agents who are responsible for today’s murder must be prosecuted and brought to justice. And we must all keep Alex’s family, friends, and community in our thoughts and prayers.
I join my fellow mayors, present and former, in support of Minneapolis @MayorFrey – and I have donated to his legal defense fund being organized in part by the @democraticmayors.
Congratulations @MayorSheehan on the succesful completion of 12 years of mayoral service to the City of Albany! Thank you for your steadfast leadership and unwavering commitment to enhancing the quality of life for all Albany residents. Wishing you all the best moving forward!
Mayor Kathy Sheehan always put Albany and its people first. Even in moments of disagreement, no one could ever doubt that her focus was on Albany and the many communities that make up our great city.
Thank you, @MayorSheehan , for your dedicated service to our city.

Albany is fiscally stronger today than it was 12 years ago. That didn’t happen by chance.
Under Mayor Kathy Sheehan’s leadership, we were able to:
✔️ 12 consecutive balanced budgets — no deficit spending, year after year
✔️ Capital City Funding secured — growing from $12.5M to $20M annually, finally recognizing that 64% of Albany is tax-exempt
✔️ Landfill life extended — protecting a critical revenue source and avoiding a financial cliff
Even through a global pandemic, Albany stayed balanced.
Fiscal freedom is what makes everything else possible: parks, public safety, youth programs, and infrastructure.
Counting down the legacy.
Today, we celebrate the foundation.
As automation and AI reshape the economy, Mayors discussed how cities are expanding training, apprenticeships, and pathways to quality jobs—ensuring no one is left behind in the future of work. #DMASummit2025
This isn't a time to talk about our feelings — this is a time to roll up our sleeves and solve problems. The safety of our community depends on it.
My statement regarding the recent conversations around Raise the Age intervention programming:
#Albany: it’s been an honor and privilege of a lifetime to serve the residents of the City of Albany over the past 16 years — 4 as your City Treasurer, and the last 12 as your Mayor.
I truly believe our future has never been brighter, and that’s why I am so excited to share with you who I voted for in this Democratic Primary to become our next Mayor and next Chief City Auditor.
@DavidGalinALB for Albany City Auditor has also served Albany for the last decade. As an attorney and the City’s Chief of Staff, David helped put our city on sound fiscal footing, helped lead us through a pandemic, and has worked with our frontline heroes to more effectively deliver essential city services — all while solving some of the problems that have plagued our city for decades.
David is the only candidate with an actual audit plan, and is the only candidate who has the experience and independence necessary to hit the ground running on Day One and help solve problems.

I hope you will join me in voting for these two public service champions. I am confident that no one in either race matches their ability to become our next Mayor and Auditor and lead our city to even greater heights.
Early voting runs through Sunday, June 22, and Primary Day is Tuesday, June 24 from 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM.

Keeping people safe and delivering essential city services is not a “game,” Dan. That’s why we are so concerned.
Being Mayor is a serious job where people’s lives and Albany’s neighborhoods actually weigh in the balance.
When I took office, all you had to do was drive around our red-lined neighborhoods to see what those who defined politics as a “game” had done to our working class families.
We can’t go back.
Notice how the left, like the lock step lemmings they are, got their marching orders and has been told swearing makes them look tough?
Ladies and gentlemen, the joke and low life Mayor of Albany inciting violence. You are a failure on every level and your city is a disaster because of you @MayorSheehan.
We have fascism on our shores.
We have a fascist president who has neutered his own party and has put sycophants in charge of the military.
But the real question is: why the fuck does Pete Hegseth still have a job?
