Today, Cook Political Report announced that CO-5, which was considered a safe Republican seat for decades, is now ripe to flip for the first time ever. While we have known this to be true for months, this rating change clearly demonstrates our growing momentum and El Paso County’s enthusiasm for change. This will likely be the closest race in Colorado, and people are starting to notice it nationwide. There are only 39 days left to make history. Now is the time to get involved! Jeff Crank’s latest ads (and those of his allies) reek of desperation. I get it. When you don’t have a record to run on, this is sadly what some politicians do. I can handle dishonest attack ads from Crank and Trump. But using photos of my family home crosses a line. And as a mother, I am disappointed and appalled that Crank would stoop so low. He claims to be a man of family and faith. He keeps his own congressional office under lock and key and won’t hold in-person town halls for fear of political violence, and yet he seems to be perfectly okay subjecting my family to that same risk. This is what people hate about politics right now. We can debate issues and hold each other accountable without putting families at risk. I won’t be intimidated or back down. I’ll keep showing up, standing up for Colorado, and fighting for the people of CO-05. That’s the courage needed to meet this moment. And it’s the courage that Jeff Crank so clearly lacks.

El Paso County needs a leader they can trust on data centers and so much more. Jeff Crank has proven he sides with Trump and big tech over his constituents. Local communities should decide if data centers are put in their backyards. There is a lot of uncertainty around AI and data centers right now, and that is why I support a moratorium… we need to take a beat and work to ensure we are doing everything we can to protect El Paso County from higher utility costs, prevent the depletion of our precious water resources, and stop unconstrained AI development.

We finished off this weekend with a Southeast BBQ in Memorial Park! It was great to talk one-on-one with so many voters and enjoy good food and the last of the summer weather. Because Jeff Crank chickened out of our third debate, I decided to instead do what Jeff fears most- talk to members of our community about issues that matter to them. Today we held a costs panel with local business owners and community leaders to discuss the impact of tariffs, the war in Iran and the “One Big Beautiful Bill” on their work and the livelihood of people in El Paso County. We also talked about common sense solutions that I plan to implement as your Congresswoman. Times are hard right now, but having conversations and learning from each other is how we move forward and grow. Competence, courage, and character are the tenets guiding my campaign and the principles I promise to follow as your member of Congress. We need more leaders who are capable, fearless, and able to make tough decisions. Jeff Crank has demonstrated that he is only focused on fealty to Trump and toeing the party line. El Paso County deserves better.

In case you missed it, I debated Crank (again), and he still refuses to take ownership of the astounding debt his One Big Beautiful Bill has created, which is crushing our country and economy. I will always stand up for the people of El Paso County and am ready to take back the power of Congress to put our district and country on a path to affordability and true representation. You will be shocked to learn that the Trump Super PAC ads against me are filled with lies and misinformation. So let’s get the facts straight…… Jeff Crank has accepted over $100,000 from lobbyists and special interests tied to data centers, including Project Taurus. He also voted to give the AI industry $70 billion in tax breaks and undermine state and local regulation of AI. Unlike Crank, I have not taken any corporate PAC money. I believe local communities should decide if data centers are put in their backyards, and, as an El Paso County resident, I support a moratorium/pause on data centers until we have a better sense of energy and water usage and the threats AI poses to our society. Trump and Crank will say anything and do anything to hold onto this seat. They are scared. Don’t be fooled by the BS. Only 47 days to go- let’s win this

It is outrageous that AI corporations are not paying their fair share in taxes while we are all left to deal with the very valid concerns and threats AI poses. Make no mistake—this is a direct result of Crank’s votes. These companies do not need more tax breaks. In Congress, I will focus on regulating AI at the federal level and putting strict guardrails around this industry. Crank, on the other hand, voted to give special tax breaks to data center operators and to prevent states from reining in AI and the big tech companies. That’s a failure of leadership on his part.

We had a fur-tastic time yesterday at Fiestas Patrias, celebrating Mexican Independence Day, and then at Pawtober Fest, celebrating good dogs and beer. It was great to be out and talking to voters (and their dogs) and enjoying another beautiful Saturday in the Springs!

No better way to start off a Saturday morning than with a backyard house party! It was truly inspiring to see so many people wake up early on a weekend to hear how we are going to make history this November!
