Thread 1/2
The strangest thing about losing your phone isn’t losing your contacts.
It’s realizing someone else may have been using it before you noticed.
A few months ago, Marcus misplaced his phone at a restaurant.
He searched everywhere but eventually gave up and bought another one.
Three days later, his old phone was returned to him.
Everything looked normal.
Until he opened his Notes app.
There was a note he didn’t write.
It contained only one sentence:
“I know you’re looking for me.”
He laughed it off.
Then he noticed the timestamp.
The note had been created two days after he lost the phone.

Thread 2/2
Marcus immediately checked his photos.
There were 11 new pictures.
All taken from inside his apartment.
His bedroom.
His kitchen.
His front door.
The last picture was different.
It was a photo of Marcus sleeping.
He called the police and changed the locks that night.
But the thing that bothered him most came later.
His phone’s location history showed that whoever had the phone had visited his apartment twice while he was at work.
Marcus had assumed losing his phone meant losing a device.
He eventually realized he had lost something much more important:
privacy.
