If the goal is to just be a real artist, all you gotta do is make art and you’re a real artist. Now if you want to monetize your art, well it’s just as it always been, you have to market the product.

You've always had to promote/admin your art. Whether it be performing live or navigating other aspects of marketing. Giving someone your demo, selling out of a trunk.. sure you can say "I just want to create/play" but then don't be surprised when someone takes advantage of that.
