Currently, if collective agreement cannot be reached then fire & rehire is the (only) legal mechanism available to impose a lawful scheme. It's an awful choice & many will think an employer should not be able to impose a new pay scheme on employees. I fully sympathise with that.

Labour spent over£2.5m fighting equal pay claims in Glasgow ,leaving an eventual compensation bill of over £770m burdening the city for generations. Shame on Monica.
Solidarity with Glasgow City Council workers and their trade unions.
Shame on those who have deployed union-busting tactics and sought to divide workers.
The UK Labour government is rightly banning fire and rehire, a law we now know is needed to protect workers from the SNP.

Labour really want to lecture Glasgow about workers jobs?
This is the same Labour run council that introduced the 2006 pay scheme at the heart of Glasgow’s equal-pay scandal. A dispute that has now cost the council £765m in settlements.
Around £38m in legal/representative fees was associated with the 2019 settlement.
Now, after eight years of negotiations, 24,000 workers are caught in the latest row over fixing that legacy.
This is a multi party mess but be in no doubt that Labour, SNP and the Greens are all to blame.
