@PFEW_HQ WANTS ANOTHER SUBS RISE. 2024 & 2025 ACCOUNTS STILL UNPUBLISHED National Council has been told a further subscription increase is coming and that, if Conference does not approve it, member services will be cut. Conference has already voted a £2 monthly rise from 1 January 2026, taking the rate from £24.31 to £26.31 and ending the 50% student discount for new joiners. That increase was sold as necessary to protect legal and welfare provision. Members are now being asked to consider another rise without the documents they are entitled to see. The last full set of audited Federation accounts on the public record is for the year ended 31 December 2023, published only in December 2025. The 2024 and 2025 accounts have still not been published. Regulation 21 of the Police Federation (England and Wales) Regulations 2017 requires the national treasurer, after the end of each financial year, to publish the branch accounts and the Federation accounts for that year, together with the auditor’s report, on the internet. This requirement is not optional. It is a statutory duty placed on the national treasurer, who is a serving police officer and must comply with it. Without the 2024 and 2025 audited accounts, Conference cannot make an informed decision on any further increase, cannot assess whether the 2026 rise is already covering the claimed pressure on services, and cannot see how funds have been spent after litigation settlements and the seemingly endless additional senior executive costs. The current CEO structure is not and has never been catered for by the Police (Federation) Regulations. Members have not been given a direct say on whether that model should continue. The evidence would suggest that it's been pretty catastrophic to date. What is the selection process for selecting a new CEO? Will it be advertised, or just another 'jobs for the boys' appointment from within? Publish the 2024 and 2025 audited accounts, with the auditor’s reports, and a clear statement of why a further increase is required after the rise already agreed. Until that is done, any claim that services will be cut unless members pay more cannot be properly scrutinised. @ukhomeoffice @ShabanaMahmood @Jonathan_Hinder

The biggest change in your 107yr history will come at the point our Judicial Review returns a declaration of incompatibility and the monopoly you have abused for so long is smashed to create choice. I’m more confident in the outcome of this challenge than I was in the pension challenge… and I was pretty confident then. 👍🏻

Meaningless blah. I pity the poor members seeing their subs wasted on promoting these Potemkin Reforms of their ruined fake union. Reforming @PFEW_HQ is the examplar of building on a sand foundation. Policing needs a brand new representative body

Your last 3 national secretary’s are all on police bail, including the last one who prior to his arrest was led h on the ‘transformation’ and paving the way to assume the Gen Sec position. Given the ongoing police investigations, the lack of internal investigation and the very clear link between the office you intend to consolidate all power into and allegations of fraud and corruption, what safeguards are you proposing which will prevent further abuse of office? Because there’s nothing within the transformation paper or glossy brochure.

Wouldn't they be better asking what the rank and file think rather than their own echo chamber?

We had the Normington Review. We had the pensions betrayal. They appointed an unelected non-police officer to lead the organisation & gave him virtually unfettered power. They systematically removed any opposing voices, acting UNLAWFULLY in doing so 1/3

This is not an organisation that is capable of change. They effectively have a licence to print money through statutory monopoly control on providing essential protections. No incentive to change & improve. The culture is INGRAINED. It is baked in! #BreakTheMonopoly @The_NPA_UK

Wow, that was quick. Or was it that the transformation paper introducing these roles and presented to the National Council to vote on today was already a done deal? A paper exercise? A forgone conclusion with no member input whatsoever? ps… Nothing says we are creating a stronger National Council and governance structure like sticking to the same old strong arm tactics of old. @ukhomeoffice @LabourSJ @ShabanaMahmood are watching this in slow motion train wreck along with the rest of us?

We’ve heard this before. In 2014, PFEW promised reform. It accepted all 36 Normington recommendations. Structures were changed, governance was rewritten and members were promised a better, more accountable Federation. A decade later, PFEW’s own independent review concluded that some of those reforms were never implemented, others had failed, and some had actually “made things worse.” The verdict on its governance? “Not fit for purpose.” And now the answer is… another transformation. Another restructure. Another set of committees. Another promise that the organisation responsible for creating and presiding over the problems can be trusted to put them right. Enough. This isn’t about whether the latest plan contains some good ideas. It’s about why 140,000 police officers should be forced to bet their representation on yet another attempt to reform the same monopoly. Let them transform. Let them rebuild. Let them prove they can change. But give police officers a choice. Because after more than a decade of reforming the Federation, perhaps it’s finally time to reform the system that protects its monopoly. @The_NPA_UK #BreakTheMonopoly
