I'm not afraid to say it, I'm embarrassed to be Minnesotan. I'm embarrassed I still live here and didn't get out when the getting was good like so many of my friends. It wasn't always like this, in fact 30 years ago it was an honor to be Minnesotan. And @Michele_Tafoya should lean into that rather than deny she said. We've all said it. We used to be known for being strong, resilient, salt of the earth people. We used to be known for Prince, Mary Tyler Moore, The Mighty Ducks. We used to be known for the Halloween Blizzard!!! Now it's all fraud and Learing Centers. We have every right to be embarrassed. The good news is we can turn this around. We've done it before. The 60s and 70s were dark times in the Twin Cities and we cleaned them up. For decades our city streets thrived. They were clean, and filled with successful businesses built by honest people who believed in the cities. We can bring that Minnesota back if we vote for it. @LisaDemuthMN

One final note, take extreme caution from anyone who says something like this, “I don’t like [SOMETHING], so vote for [A POLITICIAN], that way it’ll be fixed.” Politicians are not gods, they cant fix anything alone usually. Policies fix problems. Politicians make problems.

As a biker I yield to pedestrians at 26th and Stevens Ave in Whittier frequently alone. Sometimes I hold up an arm as in, “come on!” other times I just sit and stare at drivers and gesture at the pedestrians waiting to cross. I even watched a firetruck fail to yield.

The fraud was being prosecuted by the US attorneys office. They lost 30% of their fucking office because you voted for a pedophile conman and the attorneys working on the fucking fraud cases left the office taking dozens of years of legal experience you stupid bastard.

The citizens had been helped by the arrival of some units of the International Brigades many of whom were Americans. These Americans were later demonized during the McCarthy era for being premature anti-fascists. We have translated some of the wording of the banner. NO PASARAN translates literally as THEY SHALL NOT PASS. The bottom writing on the banner says that MADRID WILL BE TOMB OF FASCISM. We used a little poetic license to hope that MINNESOTA WILL BE THE TOMB OF FASCISM. We have to keep up the fight for the long-term. We can’t get tired. When we heard the Becca Good, the widow of Renee Good say, “They had guns we had whistles...” It reminded us of what was said after democracy lost the Spanish Civil War. “We had better music, but they had better guns and more of them.” We can’t outshoot them and we shouldn’t try but we can outsmart them.

I’ve started reading the Song of Hiawatha, written in 1855. And it got me thinking about Minneapolis renaming a few lakes: Lake Amelia -> Lake Nokomis (1910) Mud Lake -> Lake Hiawatha (1924) That’s like us renaming Bde Maka Ska to Lake Na'vi after Avatar in like 2064 guys.
