one of the most interesting NFT mint mechanics i've seen in a while.
Original Blokyz: 7500 NFTs. 225 ETH worth of supply.
but 22,443 wallets committed 25,618 ETH @ ~$64M.
the trick was in how the mint worked.
it was a 24-hour raffle and losing entries got their ETH refunded.
the collection was fully subscribed within the 1st minute, yet people kept entering for another 24 hours.
because psychologically, 0.03 ETH felt less like buying an NFT & more like putting money into a lottery where you get it back if you lose.
-> 100k entries.
-> 200k entries / $15M committed.
-> eventually $64M.
the marketing was 3 loops working together:
every milestone became another ss on CT → FOMO + social proof
top 100 bidders got limited physical Blokyz → whale marketing
months of collabs with CoinGecko, Turbo & more → community seeding
the virality had been building long before mint day.
pretty textbook marketing psychology. seed familiarity first, then make demand public.
people are much easier to pull into something they already recognize and can see everyone else wanting.
