Will be interesting to see how this plays out for service area businesses. It’s basically trying to make a map pack into ChatGPT.

I run a contracting business and a marketing agency. Just me. So I built a team of AI bots in Grok Bot. One drafts my posts. One submits client listings. One builds monthly reports. One reads my estimate forms. They draft. I approve. Nothing goes out without me.

Before you pay anybody for marketing: Ask your last 10 customers how they found you. Write down exactly what they said. Not what you think. Then compare that list to where your money goes. That gap is your marketing plan.

This is going to make @bot the best in the industry. Now all we need to know is how the pricing works. Can we bring out Claude subscription over to @bot?
Important note regarding Grok @Bot: Going forward, @SpaceX will use the best back end model for any given task, including Claude Opus 5.5, MidJourney, Suno and other leading APIs. Whatever is most likely to give you the best outcome.

I love @bot voice don’t get me wrong but I get super frustrated because it’s constantly cutting me off mid-sentence. Tell me I’m not the only one….

If someone promises you rankings in month one, they are selling you a Google Ads bill and calling it SEO.

As a GM, I hate 12-month marketing contracts. As a marketer, I know why agencies push them. SEO takes a few months to work. Some clients quit before it does. So they lock you in. I'd rather earn next month than hold you to the last eleven.

1/ $2,737 in Google Ads turned into $31,167 in paid invoices for a land clearing company. About 11x. Almost all from "lot clearing" searches. Here are the 4 fixes any contractor can steal:
1
25
4/ Fix 3: Put a call tracking number on the ad's call button. Now ad calls can be told apart from regular calls. No more guessing.

5/ Fix 4: Judge ads by paid invoices, not lead count. We only count a job as an ad win when there's proof of an ad click. Want me to compare your ad spend to your paid invoices? DM me. Free.

If I owned a landscaping company going into winter, I would not cancel my website. I would post one job photo a week on my Google profile. I would text every customer from this year "booking spring now." Spring gets booked in February by the guy who never went quiet.

Client asked me today how to get a 5.0 on Google. 25 reviews. 24 five-stars. One 1-star. That's a 4.84. 15 more five-stars gets him to 4.9. To hit 4.95, which Google shows as 5.0? About 55 more. One bad review costs you 55 good ones. So no, you can't just "ask for a few more reviews." You need a system that asks every single customer. Every job. Every time. Or you learn to love 4.9

Most service businesses set up their Google Business Profile once and never touch it again. That's leaving money on the table. In my experience, about 60% of the leads that come from Google go to the top 3 in the map pack. Everyone else gets the scraps. Not in the top 3? Here's what I'd do: 1. Fill out every section of your profile 2. Post twice a week 3. Get as many reviews as you humanly can I walked through the whole thing, step by step, in a free course on my YouTube channel: youtu.be/Jhccxc_IAoI It's about 9 months old and Google changes things fast, so some screens may look different now. Should I record an updated version? Reply and tell me what you want covered. I run a contracting business too, so I test this stuff on myself first.

Your cost per lead doesn't matter. This number does. Take your average profit per job. Multiply it by your close rate. That's the most you can pay for one estimate request. Example: $4,000 profit x 25% close rate = $1,000. Ads cost me $150 an estimate? I'm fine. A lead source charges $500 and closes 5%? I'm losing money, even though it "works." I run a contracting business too. I did this math before I ever bought a lead. What's your average profit per job, and how many estimates does it take to land one?

I told @bot to act like my partner. This morning I woke up and it had already read my emails overnight and drafted a reply to every one. It also found an appointment I would have missed. I didn't ask it to. It just did the job.
