The world should know the name Abdul Baset al-Sarout. A football player born in Homs, Syria, in 1992, who left his entire life behind to join the Syrian revolution against the Assad regime- at its very beginning in March 2011. Sarout was a talented goalkeeper, once ranked second best in Asia, with a promising professional career ahead of him. He traded it all for the struggle. He played a prominent role in the demonstrations through his presence, his organisation, and by leading chants and songs that stirred the hearts of millions. Known as the 'Nightingale of the Revolution', his voice became the soundtrack of the uprising. Yet despite his fame, those who knew him recall his deep humility, a talent that never sought the spotlight, and a faith that anchored him. They speak of his fear of God, his gentleness, his unwavering trust in Him, and how he repeatedly called for unity in the revolution. When the dictatorial Assad regime and its allies (Russia, shia militias, and Iran) began murdering protesters, bombing cities, and besieging towns, Sarout fought on the front lines to defend his people, his religion, his land, and his honour. He battled against both East and West, alongside his people, to free Syria from the tyrannical regime and from every faction that sought a piece of their homeland. Sarout's father, four brothers, uncles, and countless friends were murdered. He buried many of them with his own hands. He was wounded multiple times, endured famine and grief, yet he kept going. Kept chanting for freedom. Kept lifting his people up to persevere. Sarout gave everything he had to free his people and his country, including his own life. On June 8, 2019, he passed away at the age of 27, from severe wounds sustained two days earlier while fighting Assad regime and Russian forces on the front lines in northern Hama. We ask God to accept him and his loved ones among the martyrs. Sarout is not just a legend in Syria, but across the entire region. And he deserves to be known across the world.

The Labour Government are still continuing to arm a genocide. They're still locking up pensioners who hold up cardboard signs. And Palestinians are still being murdered every single day. The Green Party will always unapologetically speak the truth. youtu.be/BKC9mSBFpBA?is=B0fd…

This is an MBS appreciation post. I don’t think he gets anywhere near enough credit for what he’s doing for the Muslim world. In Sudan, he’s fighting against the genocidal RSF militia. In Yemen, he’s backing the Yemeni government against the khat munching rogue Houthi militia. In Syria, he’s investing billions into its reconstruction and is the main backer of the vision to turn the country into a major trade and connectivity hub. In Lebanon, he’s the main backer of the Lebanese government, both economically and diplomatically. In Palestine, he’s helped secure Trump’s backing for the Gaza peace plan and is set to invest billions in Gaza’s reconstruction and the establishment of a Palestinian state. He successfully lobbied France, Britain, Portugal, Luxembourg, Malta, Andorra, Monaco and San Marino to recognise Palestinian statehood, with Belgium also committing to recognition. In Pakistan, he’s repeatedly stepped in with billions in financial assistance to help prevent an economic collapse. In Somalia, he’s supporting Somalia’s unity and working to block any recognition of breakaway regions like Somaliland. And in Saudi Arabia, he’s grown the sovereign wealth fund from $150 billion to 1 trillion and doubled the country’s GDP since taking power. All of this while confronting Iranian and Israeli expansionism across the region, and while being called a traitor and a sellout. If you’ve been conditioned to hate this man, ask yourself how much of that hatred comes from what you actually know and how much comes from what you’ve been fed. Because whatever you think of him, you should be hoping and praying that he succeeds in what he’s trying to achieve. If his vision succeeds, the entire Muslim world stands to benefit.

This is the kind of person we Syrians have to put up with. -Over 10 mil refugees are liers. -Many survivors are liers -Locals who lived in the area are liers -90% of Syrians are liers. - UN reports are liers. Aaron Mate though is honest.
You still can't answer. You had friends who died in those attacks? Serial liar as well.

I am grateful every hour, every day. Grateful to my country for allowing me to enter neighboring countries with my head held high. Grateful that today I can speak openly, criticize freely, and do so without fear. Grateful that I have the chance to live in my own country again after being deprived of it for fourteen years. Grateful to witness my country changing before my eyes. Grateful for the sense of safety I have today, a kind of safety I had never truly known throughout my life. Grateful that I no longer live with the fear of dying and being buried far from my homeland. I am grateful. That does not mean I am satisfied with everything. It does not mean I have no criticism. It simply means that I am grateful. Gratitude may seem like a small thing, but sometimes, it means an entire life🙏🇸🇾 الحمد لله

Syria’s notorious torture facility known as the Palestine Branch was established in the 1960s. Human Rights Watch documented torture within the facility as early as the 1970s, including the torture of Palestinian prisoners. In January 2009, Amnesty International explicitly described the Palestine Branch as a detention and interrogation center “notorious for torture.” This is just one example among a plethora of examples that could be used to rebuke such poppycock. The fantasy that Assad’s Syria before the revolution was some type of utopia is simply not consistent with the countless testimonies from Syrians, victims, journalists, and even former regime officials describing what various aspects of life under Assad’s Syria looked like before 2011.
