Wait, isn’t this actually a downgrade?
With the current LISA, there’s no ‘max’ on the bonus you can get.
And it’s paid straight away, not at the end, so it has a chance to compound as well.
A welcome change to the First Time Buyers ISA due to launch in 2029. The original plans meant you only get the 25% bonus on the contribution not interest, we and many others said this was a downgrade. Now at exchange you get a 25% on everything in your account up to £20,000 (so £5,000 max bonus). #budget2026

But - and I’m not defending her here/don’t want to be that guy - I assume she would’ve paid 39.35% dividend tax on pretty much all of this?
That’s ~£110m of tax for the UK government.

Bet365 CEO Denise Coates paid herself £277,000,000 this year, and £410,000,000 in 2020.
This was more than 20,000x the Minimum Wage that she paid most of her workers.
The betting industry needs to be taxed, heavily.
