This afternoon, the program and the rest of the St. John’s Athletic Dept. attended a special mass to celebrate Coach Kaiser’s 100th birthday. Happy heavenly birthday to a pioneer of college athletics and a true representation of the Vincentian mission ❤️

Larry was an icon in the Blue Jays’ press box and will be greatly missed. Great reporter, even better person
The Toronto Blue Jays are deeply saddened by the passing of Larry Millson, one of Canada's most respected baseball writers.   For more than 30 years as a Blue Jays beat writer, Larry chronicled many of the most memorable moments in franchise history with insight, professionalism, and an enduring passion for the game.    Even after stepping away from full-time beat coverage, Larry remained a familiar and welcome presence in the Rogers Centre press box, continuing to share his love of baseball through his writing, his stories, and the friendships he built throughout the game.   We extend our heartfelt condolences to Larry's family, friends, and former colleagues. His contributions to baseball journalism and the Canadian baseball community will be remembered.

“All the aches and pains of the season, they kind of look like not a whole lot right now, after seeing what Jordan went through,” Miller said. “… There is nothing better than laying there with your baby and your wife, celebrating.”
The Millers did not have the game on. Mason’s wife was giving birth as it happened. He needed to be present. He found out shortly after the game ended from the midwife, who happened to be a Padres fan. “Who got the save, Morejon?” Miller recalled asking.

RIP. One of the OGs of beat writing - any sport. But, man, he loved baseball.

RIP Fred Claire, the legendary Dodgers GM who had such a kind heart. I was blessed to let him know the impact he made on myself and so many people with lengthy text message exchange Saturday after going into hospice at his Pasadena home.

My interview with Sam McDowell for "The Last Boy" helped me understand Mickey Mantle in a way only another recovering alcoholic could, a man who lost everything and gave everything he had back when he got sober. He also gave me my ending: "He died an honest death."

As a kid, Fred Claire was the architect of my favorite team's title and donated the last out baseball from the '88 World Series to @BaseballHall. As an 18-year-old intern, he gave me his time and career counsel even when he had far more important things on his plate. (1/4)

Fred Claire was one of the kindest, most honest executives I ever met in baseball, but in any sport. He was a writer at heart who covered the Dodgers and went on to craft its PR dept and the 1988 WS winners as GM. A cancer survivor, he battled. You will be missed my friend.

San Diego is not collateral damage. We are not expendable. And we are never a "small price to pay." Keep our city out of your reckless war talk.
