Chainlink has launched CCIP 2.0, a major upgrade aimed at institutional and tokenized-asset infrastructure. It adds optional independent Cross-Chain Verifiers, built-in compliance controls, configurable confirmation speeds and more granular transaction policies. Chainlink says CCIP now secures more than $84 billion in cross-chain token value, with major financial institutions and asset issuers already integrating the system.

The XRP Ledger’s emergency xrpld 3.4.1 release addresses security-sensitive protocol issues and introduces fixBatchV1_2. The fix has supermajority validator support, while the Batch upgrade’s activation window has moved to October 9. Operators running older versions could become amendment-blocked if the fix activates. XRPL says there has been no mainnet impact or loss of user funds.

MetaMask Staking is precautionarily exiting Ethereum validators operated through Lido after an infrastructure compromise. Lido says the affected validators are expected to be exited by October 7, with the process potentially taking about 45 days before ETH can fully return through the exit, withdrawal and re-entry cycle. MetaMask says there is no immediate threat to user wallets.

Blast announced that it will shut down its Ethereum Layer-2 network because ongoing operating costs exceed L2 revenue and the team sees no credible path to sustainability. Withdrawals will temporarily pause while Blast exits its Lido positions; normal-interface withdrawals are expected to remain available until October 26, after which users will need to use the Ethereum bridge contracts directly. The network’s TVL has fallen from more than $2 billion at its peak to roughly $32 million.

An access-control flaw in the third-party FlashLoopAdapter, used to automate leveraged Aave v3 positions through Safe wallets, allowed an attacker to bypass Safe authentication and drain about 114.09 ETH, roughly $305,000, from two multisigs. Aave says its core v3 contracts were not affected; the incident is isolated to the external integration.

The SEC has proposed a dedicated framework for crypto custody by registered investment advisers and regulated funds. The proposal would, under conditions, allow advisers and funds to use state-chartered trust companies and adviser self-custody when no qualified custodian is available, while modernizing related custody, reporting and recordkeeping rules. The proposal has a 60-day public-comment period after Federal Register publication.

The SEC has proposed new rules governing how investment advisers and regulated funds custody crypto assets under federal securities laws. SEC Chair Paul Atkins said the proposal would create a clearer compliance pathway for crypto custody where the agency says one did not previously exist. The proposal could materially affect advisers, funds and custodians handling digital assets.

MetaMask is proactively exiting affected validators from its non-custodial Ethereum staking infrastructure after an ongoing security incident. MetaMask says there is no immediate threat to its wallets and that it does not control clients’ withdrawal keys. Independent on-chain analysis found about 16,965 validators, representing roughly 565,000 ETH, entering the exit process; about 0.36 ETH in validator rewards was diverted, with no reported validator slashing. The exits are creating a significant Ethereum staking-queue impact.

⚠️ALERT: NEAR Intents reports EXPLOIT that caused an $3.8 MILLION loss.
The issue came from a bug linked to its Omni deposit and withdrawal system.
near:native says all affected funds will be FULLY compensated.
NEAR Intents is a multichain transaction service that enables users and AI agents a shorter transaction process.
DEPOSITS and WITHDRAWALS on BSC, Polygon, TON, Optimism, Avalanche, Stellar, Monad, LayerX, Adi, Scroll and Plasma will stay paused for about 12 MORE HOURS.
The contract bug has been FIXED, and NEAR Intents and near(.)com are expected to return within about 1 HOUR.
The incident has also been reported to law enforcement, while security firms work to trace the funds.

Cloudflare has announced tools that will allow businesses to fund and pay AI agents using USDC. The initiative moves stablecoin use beyond conventional consumer or merchant payments toward machine-to-machine transactions, although the new tools were not yet broadly available at announcement.
