The PATCH/STAMPEDE report in NEJM, 1,360 men with locally advanced, nonmetastatic prostate cancer were randomized to transdermal estradiol or an LHRH agonist. Estradiol was noninferior for metastasis-free survival: three-year rates were 87.1% versus 85.9%, respectively.
