It was great to meet Dr. Matthew Smith-Cohn, a fellow physician MBA classmate at the @KelleyBizMed IU Kelley School of Business Physician MBA Program yesterday during lunch and see from his perspective the importance of research as an engine for discovery to help patients. As a neuro-oncologist and one who trained in the same oncology fellowship program I trained in at Hopkins, he is using dordaviprone to treat patients with H3K27M-mutated glioma. It is the honor of a lifetime for me to hear that a drug, ONC201/TIC10 screened in my lab and discovered in 2007 is FDA-approved and used to treat patients. We need to do more to find cures for these horrible brain tumors that affect children and adults in the prime of their life.

I don’t think I am- I’m simply explaining to you what I am doing since you claim something about my beliefs when you don’t even know me- I suspect you have never even read a single one of my 100+ scientific papers on cancer research or even read my substack articles on the topic. There is nothing stronger than the scientific method- when done rigorously, honestly and with integrity. It does start with a question, and from reading the literature with my background on environmental exposures and cancer as well as HPV- associated cancers the question was…. I wonder if the exposure to a novel virus that’s is impacting the immune system in atypical ways might be associated with cancer? The virus induces immune dysfunction.Data shows spike protein interacts with key tumor suppressor genes. And you know what else encodes for spike and induces immune dysfunction- the vaccines do. So go read my review on the subject. This is not a belief- this is the scientific method in action! Based on how you communicate with me and other colleagues and the content of your posts, you clearly are not a serious person and maybe it’s time you sit this one out and let those of us who want to champion evidence generation take the lead.

Lovely evening at the home of Professor John Reed Smith who has been teaching our accounting class at the @KelleyBizMed IU Kelley School of Business Physician MBA Program this semester. My current cohort for the Class of 2028, the second year class of 2027 and the alumni are an incredible physician force for the transformation of healthcare, entrepreneurship, biotechnology, and more. Very glad to participate at a pace that works with my very busy schedule. I have met some amazing people. Thanks to Susannah Eastwick the program director as well. Reed is a wine connoisseur with an amazing collection and he shares with his students interesting wine tidbits at the beginning of every weekly nighttime class.
