I am deeply outraged by Melania Trump’s statement regarding the evacuation of civilians from Russian-occupied Oleshky. “Some will want to go to Russia, and some to Ukraine.” Excuse me, but OLESHKY IS UKRAINE! It is a city in the Kherson region, occupied by the Russian Federation. Why are we once again talking about Russia and Ukraine as though they are two equally legitimate parties simply offering civilians different destinations? Russia is the country that occupied this city. For years, people have been living under occupation, isolation and catastrophic humanitarian conditions. According to journalistic reports, civilians attempting to escape Oleshky and reach Ukrainian-controlled territory have been killed by drone strikes. So what freedom of choice are we talking about? I support any genuinely safe humanitarian operation that can save civilian lives. But evacuation must not become a tool for legitimising occupation or removing responsibility from the aggressor. We need independent international observers, genuine security guarantees, protection against coercion, and safe routes allowing civilians to reach Ukrainian-controlled territory. And most importantly, no humanitarian agreement changes Ukraine’s internationally recognised borders. RUSSIA OCCUPIED OLESHKY. RUSSIA BEARS RESPONSIBILITY FOR PROTECTING THE RIGHTS OF CIVILIANS UNDER ITS OCCUPATION. Helping people is essential. But humanitarian assistance must never become a political justification for occupation. Terwijl geen enkele schriftelijke bron noch verklaring van Poetin die bewering kan staven, niemand in 2023 ooit van dat voorstel had gehoord (noch in de VS, noch in de Oekraïense regering), en Poetin op 30 september 2022 al de veroverde gebieden (en meer) grondwettelijk bij Rusland had aangehecht. Missie volbracht voor Rusland. Hoewel dit nooit gebeurd is in 2023, krijgt het pleidooi om hulp aan Oekraïne te stoppen om Zelenski tot "vrede" te dwingen weer zuurstof in de Westerse publieke opinie. After massive criticism Starlink and Starshield have been fully restored in Ukraine. This was due to the great efforts by the people of the USA, in Europe and elsewhere who wouldn’t allow this deeply inhumane and wrong decision to go unanswered. Good job!

The former CEO of Polar Train LNG said that the export terminal is actually financed and controlled by Russia’s Novatek without Washington’s permission. At first, he believed that the money was provided by investor, who is associated with the Trump family, but it turned out that the financing came from Novatek. Russia’s Novatek has been under US sanctions since 2014, and its Arctic LNG 2 project was added to the list in 2023. According to the FT, a swap is being discussed in negotiations with Moscow: Novatek helps with Alaska, and the US lifts sanctions on Arctic LNG 2.
