I got Jason agent pilled on Saturday and on Sunday he built the new world clock that'll ship with Omarchy 4.1!! This is the next phase of Omarchy: Getting triple-A designers on board to make everything even better and more delightful.

Omarchy is blowing up. I've never been involved with anything in my career that has grown this fast. With Ruby on Rails, we had years to build solid institutions, teams, and relationships. With Omarchy, we've been forced to figure it all out in twelve days. It's exhausting, but also incredibly exciting. It was never sustainable with just Ryan and me running everything. That's how it was, more or less, up until Quattro. Lots of other contributors, but all the responsibility was on us to make sure the ship stayed afloat, the servers didn't crash, and fixes got pushed out quickly. Now it's time to build a proper institution. Durable, resilient, and competent. That's what we're doing here on Basecamp now. I'm spinning up teams for every facet of responsible distro management, and I'm getting an absolute outpouring of interest for all of them. Everyone wants to be part of this. We're winning hearts, minds, and volunteers at an astounding rate. Great! We need all of it to succeed. Because make no mistake: There are many people who'd love to see this rocket blow up before it reaches the moon. Aggrieved Linux users who don't like the sudden attention their exclusive hobby has received. Competing Linux distributions that are seeing our numbers explode. Mac stans who've sunk their identity into an apple. And, of course, any of the haters I've picked up in my quarter-century career speaking bluntly on the internet. They're not going to succeed. Because we've already become unstoppable. There's too much momentum, too much money, and too much support now backing this effort. We're living the Mandate From Heaven meme at the moment. And we are here to fulfill the prophecy: The Year of Linux on the Desktop! That has been a joke for two decades. But by the end of the year, nobody at Apple or Microsoft is going to be laughing. They're going to be scrambling. Because neither of these proud organizations currently has any method to counter the speed, vision, or ambition with which we're going to accelerate into the future of personal computing. This is the moment. This is the opening. This is our chance. For thirty years, we've been subject to one OS overlord or another. Dictating how we compute. Choking off competitors through platform malfeasance. Tollboothing the distribution. That ends now. Because Linux is going to win. And Linux is free. As in beer, speech, and source. But just because it's inevitable doesn't mean it's going to be easy. We have a lot of work in front of us if we actually want to make our mark. But there's never been a better time for this kind of delusional ambition. The age of agents is the unlocking factor. It sounds like a LinkedIn slogan, but it's true. Where the application of tokens goes, the innovation follows. We can fix everything. Let's do it together. Let's go. --- This is what I sent to the dozens of new volunteers who've signed up for teams within the new Omarchy organization yesterday. But we might as well broadcast our mission and intentions to the world too.

the expo issue/pr verification flow has been been working great for us! you can do this all today with expo, eas, and tools like agent-device and argent and we're are working on tying it all together in a way that feels right out of the box. like always, it'll be fully flexible to let you assemble the primitives into whatever works best for your projects. giving your agent the ability to verify its work and provide that as evidence to a human is an absolute requirement for building mobile apps with agents. at @expo we're dedicated to discovering how to best build for mobile in the era of agents.

We tell young people in our society that end of the rainbow is retirement at 65. We ought to tell them that "there is going to be this short but beautiful golden window from roughly age 3 to roughly age 12 where your kids are not only easy (comparatively to bottles & diapers), but are going to be these beautiful little creatures and it will pain your heart to be away from them for too long. So, prepare in your 20's, financially and career wise, to build that flexibility into that chapter of your life". You don't get another shot at living the "golden window". And, for me, leaning hard into that golden window has made everything else in my life feel fairly insignificant in comparison. I have made plenty of mistakes as a father, but what I won't have is the regret of having been distracted and absent from these formative years. In some cases, that has required financial sacrifices (declining a particular career opportunity that would have required relocation), but I personally have zero regrets. I also hear from some ambitious & successful people with a 4 year old that say "I've lost my ambition, I am so immersed in fatherhood". At least for me, and a number of my friends, it comes back. You can't keep an ambitious person down and if you have the fire, hanging at a playground on too many Tuesday afternoons is going to feel like torture after too long. My three boys are approaching 13, 11 & 9, and it's much different than 7, 5 & 3. This summer, for example, they slept until 11am and I hard an unencumbered 6am-12pm to work (being on PT helps), then got another great window 7-11pm, but was able to be present in the heart of the day, then weeks when they were at basketball camp, etc. It gets easier, your time frees up again (there's a sadness to that too), but I'm back to working as intensely as I did pre-kids just because my day to day presence requires fewer hours than it did before (also, my wife is just superbly wonderful). And that is the beautiful gift of entrepreneurship (or at least my sort of business), the ability to deliver still a high level of output but work that around your life rather than the opposite. TLDR, grind before, and grind after. Prepare for the golden window.

react native friends, quick Q: Is there a way to distinguish OTA updates based on some kind of custom metadata in @expo-updates? We currently check for and install updates every 30min (see screenshot). The register function is called in a root-level useEffect. We'd like to change this setup, so that urgent updates get downloaded and installed instantly (via a sheet and a button that users have to press) while non-urgent updates can get downloaded and installed in the background, the default way in expo-updates. How would you build this?

man, I love react native so much. The community is full of talented people that continuously push the boundaries of what's possible, bottom up. And everyone always responds with excitement, support, and love. You rarely see "fights" between "competing" packages. It's all for the love of the game. You rock @janicduplessis, this looks sick!
