IMO, the U.S. should intervene if it becomes clear that Louvre is about to fall to rioters. Launch airstrikes on Paris, call up and threaten Macron, I don't really care. But Louvre shouldn't fall to rioters in any case. That is not just French history in there. That's Western history. If the French fail to protect it, somebody needs to intervene.

These same leftists who are “protesting” turned a blind eye to Iranians who are actually living in a terrible oppressive country and dying for one ounce of freedom these leftists take for granted.

earlier this year, 100,000-500,000 iranians marched in toronto, LA, munich, and many other major cities in the world in a sign of support for the iranians that were murdered by the islamic regime for protesting for freedom in iran nothing was destroyed or looted, there was no voilence, they proudly waved the flag of the host country in solidarity this is what protest should look like in a country that brought people in from worse conditions and gave them a quality of life and moreover, that doesnt murder its own people when they do take to the street and the irony here is, many of those who are responsible for the damage in paris and milan right now, those waving foreign flags, were also critizing and throwing backlash at the peaceful iranians when they marched in in great cities know your allies. know your enemies.

There is a war on beauty, because beauty connects us to God, to our history, and to each other.
Some of the artwork that burned up last night, completely irreplaceable.

What do you notice? Look at these two figures. Left: a nymph from Bouguereau's Nymphaeum, 1878. Right: his Venus, painted a year later. Bouguereau reused his own figure. He took that nymph, enlarged her, made her hair longer and lighter with a more intense sway. He recycled his own perfect figure and made it divine. A good pose was too good to use only once.
Bouguereau painted Venus in 1879, shy, luminous, surrounded by nymphs who adore her. It caused a scandal then. Now it’s one of the most loved Venuses on the internet.

A good rule of history: if you find yourself opposing a student movement while siding with the ruling class, you're wrong. Every time, in every era, whatever the issue.
Community note
Student movements have not always been on the right side of history. Mao's student Red Guards persecuted hundreds of thousands. Students helped Castro and Khomeini rise to power, and Nazi student groups opposed the Weimar Republic. britannica.com/topic/Red-Guar… encyclopedia.ushmm.org/content/en/art… aei.org/education/actu

every person who was involved in the destruction of this beautiful art should be hung
This is what they just burnt down in France. To reduce something this beautiful to ash that survived both world wars invokes a different type of anger. Cold and observant.
