Bild and Focus reported children converting or pretending to convert so they are no longer treated as outsiders. In Neuss in 2024, police investigated four pupils who demanded gender segregation, hijabs, a prayer room, and rejected democracy. They were described as acting like a “sharia police.” Similar complaints have appeared in other German cities and beyond Germany.
