What a sweet tour! 🍰
Enjoyed touring the McKee Foods' Little Debbie facility in Stuarts Draft today and getting a firsthand look at the people and process behind some of our favorite snacks. It was great to learn more about the company’s manufacturing operations, workforce, and commitment to American manufacturing… and of course, you can’t beat a Christmas Tree Cake fresh off the line! A big thank you to the Virginia Manufacturers Association for arranging the tour and to the McKee Foods team for the warm welcome and hospitality.

Abandoning Shoosmith Landfill was a cowardly move by the former owners. This indictment from the grand jury is a meaningful, first step towards justice. The attorney general must now use every state resource to ensure a conviction and recover lost funds.
Former owners of troubled Shoosmith Landfill are indicted, listed as fugitives ➡️ Find link to story in bio

I was adopted at eight months old and raised by a World War II Army veteran and a schoolteacher. 👪 I grew up in Henrico working at Shoney’s, Kings Dominion, a grocery store, on a fishing boat, and in a tomato cannery. Virginia built me. Now I fight for it. 💪 🗳️#VA01  🎥 youtube.com/watch?v=kEmvLZ4v…

25 years ago, I was at Altus Air Force Base when I first heard the news from New York. We later learned about the attack at the Pentagon and in Pennsylvania. On this day, I pray for the families who lost loved ones on September 11th.

Proud to support Rob Wittman for re-election and the work he does for Chesterfield.
When the people who know Virginia best all point to the same person, that says something. Rob Wittman shows up, delivers, and has earned the trust every step of the way for the First District. 🇺🇸 #VA01 #ReelectWittman

In between several meetings I had a chance to speak with students from VCU School of Social Work about my role as a state legislator. They had excellent questions about the lawmaking process and what they can do to have an impact in their communities.

I hope to see you there!

Spanberger admin is fresh off a failed attempt to delay VA’s transition to higher cut scores aligned to NAEP, a plan set in play by Youngkin after revising multiple sets of standards to be more rigorous. We’re moving in the right direction with more work still to do.
Spanberger spox:"While the last admin talked a big game about raising expectations, they had 4 years to increase standards &close what they called the ‘honesty gap’—& yet did not implement a single change that would require them to hold themselves accountable to that higher bar.”

This afternoon I had the great pleasure of guest teaching at @VSU_1882. VSU always produces top tier graduates, and my interactions with students today only reinforces that belief. A special thanks to Professor Jonathan Young for the invite.

With the state budget surplus news this week, hunting and fishing license fees should be going down, not up. Great opportunity for the Gov to make them free. A nice bipartisan olive branch.
Another for @CardinalNewsVA: Virginians left over 1,200 public comments on proposed price increases for hunting and fishing licenses. Here’s my preview of the deciding meeting tomorrow. cardinalnews.org/2026/08/19/…

Incredibly sad news from VSU on what should be an exciting move-in weekend. I’m continuing to monitor while praying for the student body.
