With all eyes on the inflation statistics released this week, little attention was paid to the Treasury statement released on Friday. It showed the nation racked up a nearly $2 trillion budget deficit in just-ended fiscal year 2026. That’s more than 6% of GDP.

Why are Republicans only capable of telling the truth when they retire or get voted out? Spineless cowards.
Retiring Republican Sen. Thom Tillis calls his vote to confirm Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth his “biggest regret” and says Hegseth should resign. cbsn.ws/4yBTN1w

You never got your $2000 tariff rebate checks. You never got your $5000 DOGE refund checks. You’ll never get your $5000 election bribe checks. If you think you will, you may be an idiot.
If Republicans win the House of Representatives and the Senate in the 2026 Midterm Elections, I’m going to give all adult citizens in the United States of America, $5,000! Thank you for your attention to this matter, and I look forward to signing those checks!
Community note
This $5,000 “Trump Dividend” promise was first made in Sept. 2026. Similar prior DOGE and tariff check pledges have not been paid out. It would cost ~$1.2 trillion and require congressional approval. pbs.org/newshour/polit… washingtonpost.com/politics/2026/

Trump has made more stock trades than every member of Congress combined. Not more than any one of them. More than all of them put together. And he's pushing a stock trading ban for Congress that exempts himself. His sons cash Pentagon checks and run scuzzy crypto ventures. His Middle East peace envoy's sons work the Gulf royals. Everyone in this White House is cashing in, and you're the one footing the bill. Ban stock trading for Congress? Great. Now extend it to the President, the Cabinet, the courts, all of it. Washington needs a power washing. Trump pumps his portfolio while your paycheck gets pinched. bloomberg.com/graphics/2026-…

JUST IN: A medicore September jobs report. The US economy added only 29,000 jobs in September (well below ~80k expected). On top of that, there were downward revisions: July was revised down to -10k and August to 133k. Unemployment rate: 4.2% (up from 4.1% in August) The biggest sore spot = wage growth of 3% in past year. That’s a new 5-year low and it’s wiped out entirely by ~3.4% inflation.

The @GOP @SenateGOP has allowed this to happen!
🚨 THE WORLD COULD BE DAYS AWAY FROM A GLOBAL OIL SHORTAGE. Countries around the world are rapidly burning through their remaining oil inventories as supplies from the Middle East remain severely disrupted. And the biggest risk is no longer just about oil prices - it’s whether enough physical oil can actually reach refineries. The pressure is already visible with Brent closing around $104 on Friday. US diesel has hit record levels, while Middle East supply disruptions are affecting global flows. This could trigger fuel shortages worldwide, driving up transport, shipping and food costs while pushing inflation sharply higher. If Hormuz doesn’t reopen soon, this could shift from an oil price crisis to a global oil shortage.

We’ve only had 72 days in session this year. Under Republican leadership, this is the laziest & least effective Congress in American history.

“It is all Biden's fault” 🔸Gas was $3.12 per gallon when Biden left office. It is $4.33 today. 🔸Diesel was $3.63 a gallon when Biden left office. It is $6.27 today. 🔸America was not at war when Biden left office. We are at war with Iran today. 🔸Inflation for 2024 was 2.9%. It is 3.4% today. 🔸Wage gains for 2024 were 3.9%. Today, 3.1%. 🔸Real Wage Gains were +1.0% in 2024. Today, they are -0.3%. 🔸GDP growth was 2.8% in 2024. In the second quarter of 2026, it was 1.5%. 🔸The number of uninsured Americans decreased by almost 1 million over Biden's term. It has increased by 3 million since he left office. 🔸Home electricity prices have risen 12% since Biden left office. 🔸The native-born employment rate has decreased by ~1.7% since December 2024—the opposite of what a big deportation effort was supposed to do. You can't blame the last administration for everything bad happening 20 months into a new administration that enacted tariffs, started a war, and kicked people off their healthcare to give more tax breaks to corporations and billionaires.

The real @GOP
81 days. That's how many days the House of Representatives has worked in DC this year while being paid $174,000, along with $79 a day for food and incidentals, up to $258 per day to pay for their DC housing, a full staff, and gold-level healthcare, of which taxpayers cover 75% of the cost. The House is on recess right now, won't return until September 14th, and then they'll work just four days before leaving again until November 9th. These are the people telling everyone who is struggling to work harder, that affordability is a hoax, and causing millions to lose their healthcare despite having their own coverage subsidized.

Dennis Ritchie created C in the early 1970s without Google, Stack Overflow, GitHub, or any AI ( Claude, Cursor, Codex) assistant. - No VC funding. - No viral launch. - No TED talk. - Just two engineers at Bell Labs. A terminal. And a problem to solve. He built a language that fit in kilobytes. 50 years later, it runs everything. Linux kernel. Windows. macOS. Every iPhone. Every Android. NASA’s deep space probes. The International Space Station. > Python borrowed from it. > Java borrowed from it. > JavaScript borrowed from it. If you have ever written a single line of code in any language, you did it in Dennis Ritchie’s shadow. He died in 2011. The same week as Steve Jobs. Jobs got the front pages. Ritchie got silence. This Legend deserves to be celebrated.

When we talk about Medicare for All, we’re not just talking about covering every man, woman and child. We’re talking about expanding Medicare to cover dental, vision and hearing — something supported by 92% of Americans. Healthcare is a human right. Let’s make it happen.
