I love this detailed perspective about a wife and a mother. A smart woman you are. Please keep it up. I remember a colleague will flex by saying "I can't wake up early to cook for my kids". Same person will need to be at work by 8:30 am in Lagos. The irony is that she will come to the office and disturb those of us who had come to the office with our lunch pack. We know their types!
When I started having children, I woke up at night to attend to them and went back to sleep.
When they became toddlers and started school, I was up before or at least 6am every weekday.
Once I got them ready and in school, either by school bus or by taking them myself, I would get back home and sleep to my heart's content till it was time to pick them up.
That a wife wakes before 7am doesn't mean she is sleep deprived or a slave. In fact, a stay-at-home mum gets more sleep than a 'career' woman.
I have realised that a lot of people on Twitter take things on a surface level, with no depth in reasoning or thinking.
That is why a man will say his wife wakes before 7am and they will start to throw tantrums and look for ways to insult him or his wife. Funny enough when he heaps appreciation, lavishes gifts and praises on her, they go mute.
These same women wake up before 5am, jump buses, and exchange perfume smells with strangers early in the morning, drive with sleepy, swollen eyes to go and report to a man or their fellow women in their offices.
A woman's life is in stages and every stage comes with a routine.
I followed that routine until my last child entered boarding house. Now, I sleep till whenever I like.
Sometimes, when I have some jobs, I sleep by midnight and wake around 1pm the following day.
Sometimes, if my husband is home and needs to go out, I just rise to lock the door and go back to sleep.
As a woman, wife, and mother, everything is in stages.
A routine at a particular stage does not define the woman or her husband.
Different things and strategies are required at different stages.
It is not as if some of you women don't know. You do.
But na una know wetin una dey fight.
