Really doesn't matter what you think of Cofnas or his work. A university hired him, then he published a piece about Jason Arday based on well-supported claims about his plagiarism and fabulism that needed to come out, and now Cofnas is being disciplined.

One thing that is I think a real impediment to understanding in cases like this is that very smart people often lack an accurate theory of mind for very stupid people. They simply cannot imagine that somebody like Arday, who found a button he could push to get attention, would continue pushing that button without any awareness of what the inevitable consequences would be, because he apparently lacked the intellectual capacity to entertain the hypothetical of "what's going to happen when somebody starts to question this?" You saw that in the interviews he did: he was genuinely surprised that someone would check if his story was true, because no one ever had. I also found it noticeable in his lectures, which were full of weird malapropisms: he literally had no idea what the words he was using meant. That audiences sat through those alarming word salads and continued to reward him for it is pathological, and a testament to how powerful social manias can be among educated people eager to prove their innate goodness. This blindness among the very smart to the minds of the extremely stupid, especially among sociologists, finds its way into all kinds of bad policy making. You won't set good policy for policing if you don't understand how somebody with really low IQ and poor impulse control is going to think and behave. You won't get why winning the lottery ruins people's lives, because you don't understand that giving a really stupid person a huge amount of money in a lump sum is like giving a child a loaded handgun. (Apply this to universal basic income and see what you come up with.) You don't get why a homeless guy, given a nice apartment for free, would immediately trash it or burn it down. You don't get why admitting people to college who don't have the innate intellectual capacity for college work is going to cause them serious harm. Some people just have very low intellectual capacity, and you can't fix it.

The tragedy of Jason Arday is that he was both built up and destroyed by the ruthless machinery of DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion). The academy made him into the golden boy of its philistine project of ‘decolonisation’ and gave not one thought to what the consequences might be if his thin story unravelled, as it inevitably would. It was precisely this, their giddy, narcissistic desire to manufacture a kind of black saviour, that made them turn a blind eye to the questionable elements of Arday’s CV and life story. They sacrificed their due diligence to the god of decolonisation. And Arday suffered. He was both poster boy and sacrificial lamb of the diversity crusade. Even as he gained from it – reaching the dizzying heights of a Cambridge professorship – he was being damned by it. The foundation of myth and sand his starry career was built on was untenable. Its collapse was a given. It is a testament to the ideological blindness of the inhabitants of our ivory towers that none of them foresaw it. . . . The Faustian ruthlessness of it all is mindblowing. . . . The media is the only institution in this entire tragic scandal that did its job properly. Journalists found a story and they told it. It was the academy and Arday’s colleagues who failed to do their jobs. Who failed to prize merit over identity, and failed to foresee the public embarrassment that would befall their falsely promoted friend. They ignored the truth – the media found it. I and others have been arguing for years that the politics of identity is a disaster for all, black and white alike. White kids are overlooked, black kids are patronised. Whites are branded ‘privileged’, blacks ‘oppressed’. Whites are seen as the beneficiaries of historic crimes who must atone for past sins, blacks as history’s perma-victims who require the gracious helping hand of the state. We are demonised or infantilised according to the accident of our race. Enough. Let our monument to Jason Arday be the restoration of the true ideal of equality. We couldn’t save Jason but we can save merit from the monstrous jaws of identity.

Why do Communists and Islamists always align? Because both share the common objective of destroying the free world for a collective dream. The Communist seeks to subordinate individual autonomy to a collective material identity. The Islamist seeks to subordinate individual autonomy to a collective religious identity. They both have to kill the same enemy: the individual.

The spread of socialism in the U.S. will lead to the rise of fascism as a counter-movement, which is exactly how it first rose. None of us want to be stuck between these monstrous extremes. This can only be prevented by the Democratic Party taking the left back from the fringe.

People often talk about how ironic it is that those from socialist states despise socialism, while the most privileged people on earth advocate for it. I don’t think this is because “they don’t know what it is,” or “they just think it means Europe.” The opposite. They know exactly what it means. They may not know the scale of devastation—the deadliest famines in history, the mass shortages, the terrorism, the gulags, UMAPS, and labor camps—but they at least believe the end of private property will be the end of wealth. The reason they don’t want anybody to have wealth is because they’ve been made to feel so ashamed for their own privileges. It doesn’t matter that accumulated capital is necessary to fund social services. They would rather sacrifice it all to kill the shame. If you don’t understand this, you don’t understand the psychology of socialism. It doesn’t draw people in with love, it draws people in with shame. Society is divided into the good and the bad, the “have-nots” and the “haves.” The good people are meek, poor, and destitute. The bad people are wealthy and corrupt. Most of us cannot survive this model. We start to ask ourselves “am I one of the bad people? I can afford coffee. I can afford shelter,” and the fear and shame slowly accumulate under the surface until you let go of the old belief of individual freedoms (I deserve to have) and replace it with the collectivist belief (nobody deserves to have). They don’t think socialism is a world where we all rise up together. They want it for exactly what it is: the world where we all suffer together. Because in having nothing, the socialist is finally cleansed of the (manufactured) guilt of ever having “had.”

Mr. Burkett, I'm not sure why you tossed into this otherwise good article that anyone who thinks sex is binary is transphobic. You cited Dawkins, but me and nearly every scientist on the planet and in history uses the accepted definition of biological sex by gamete type (sperm or egg). There are only 2 sexes. As someone who grew up in the Muslim world, I’ve seen this pattern repeat itself: When Muslims are weak and in the minority, they speak endlessly about tolerance, coexistence, and peace. When they become strong and gain power, that tolerance completely disappears, even toward their own people. This isn’t an opinion. This is historical fact, proven across centuries and across many countries. The West needs to understand this pattern before it’s too late. Tolerance in Islam is not a principle. It’s a strategy.
