QR payments dominate in many countries that have introduced it and have become even bigger than cards, so competition in this field has become very strong. FinTechs now need to offer both if they want to survive in those markets.
Three years ago it was unthinkable to have an international bank account, let alone an international credit card—now virtually every fintech offers them. However, it comes with some of the issues mentioned above in this thread.

Despite the mature market, banking partners still ask for a lot of requirements, mainly because they still don’t understand many of the processes. Primarily when the sender or recipient is in the US or Europe.
Massive adoption and competition are making everything a lot cheaper, so users will seek those offering better services—such as adding a card or yield features. This is mainly how the Neo-banks and new FinTechs are shaping up.
However, it's still mostly based on US stablecoins. For local stablecoins to start picking up, the liquidity market needs to wake up.

In Argentina, banks are increasingly adopting this tech, unlocking an insane and permanent cost reduction in financial infrastructure.
What's interesting about e.g. stablecoins is that T-bills (wha'ts backing them) have traditionally been institutional vehicles, which are now being opened up in new ways.
People in the region are already accustomed to immediate transfers around the clock, in contrast to the US or Europe where they remain limited to business hours. So, this is not necessarily a disruption that was brought by crypto. It was the 24/7 access to foreign currencies what was interesting for such unstable economies and banking systems.

Stablecoin issuers understood the path to success: partnering with legacy incumbents and making themselves invisible for retail users.
In places like Bolivia there was a big shift where previously all international payments went via US rails. Now that's no longer the case, but we're still dependent on USD stablecoins so it's time to move beyond the US treasury backed ones.
This market is now very mature in Latam, and there's a wide range of companies covering the whole value chain, now becoming more verticalised.
