Curioso paralelismo con nuestra recaudación fiscal: pocos sostienen la mayor parte, muchos aportan poco y, aun así, el resultado termina en déficit.
MEXICO | 85% of Pemex's oil production comes from just 37 of its 229 fields, while 92 fields are unprofitable and waste capital. (Expansión)

The U.S. exports diesel to over 60 different countries. That diesel is used to produce goods that the U.S. then imports. For example, U.S. diesel exports to Chile represents a large share of Chile's domestic consumption. Chile is the world's largest producer and exporter of copper. Cutting off diesel exports from the U.S. puts all these trade flows at risk.

Starbucks $SBUX plans to close 250 underperforming North American stores and take about $300M in restructuring charges. Most closures are expected by the end of FY26.

Y Francia confirma el ataque con este anuncio de Macron
BREAKING: 🇫🇷 French President Emmanuel Macron announces that France will deploy military resources to Saudi Arabia to protect the key Yanbu energy site on the Red Sea. Macron says France will send soldiers, radars and air-defence systems to protect the site, which he says provides a route for transporting several million barrels of oil. The site was very badly damaged by an attack, Macron said. He stressed that French forces will not participate in combat or engage in the conflict, but will be there to protect the facility

MCDONALD’S CEO: HIGH INFLATION IS HERE TO STAY McDonald’s CEO Chris Kempczinski says weak customer traffic and persistent inflation are becoming the new normal for the restaurant industry. U.S. same-store sales rose just 0.8% last quarter, while restaurant traffic declined. With beef, labor and construction costs elevated, McDonald’s plans to compete aggressively for market share, while remaining cautious about further menu price increases.

Higher oil prices will unlock an enormous supply of government bonds. France is showing us how it begins. I warned about this back in July. France has just expanded its fuel subsidies, taking the total relief package to €1.4 billion. The government is now absorbing a larger share of the energy shock through public spending. And this is happening when France is already facing serious sovereign debt pressure. Its 10-year bond yield spread over Germany recently crossed 100 bps for the first time since 2012, while Scope Ratings downgraded its sovereign credit rating. Here is the bigger picture. Higher oil prices → Higher energy subsidies → Larger fiscal deficits → More government bond issuance → Greater pressure on sovereign debt markets. Governments are increasingly socialising the cost of energy shocks through fiscal spending. But someone must ultimately pay for it. If governments continue financing these costs through additional debt, the burden shifts to taxpayers and bondholders. If monetary accommodation follows, inflation and currency debasement become additional risks. France is just the beginning of a much larger fiscal risk I have been warning about. Higher inflation. Rising sovereign debt. Eroding confidence in fiat currencies. This is precisely the monetary environment in which gold's role as an asset without sovereign credit risk becomes increasingly important. The energy crisis is no longer just about oil. It is becoming a question of who ultimately absorbs the cost.
