We are appalled by reports that MEP Rima Hassan knocked down the Israeli and European flags displayed at the European Parliament as part of an exhibition honouring the victims and hostages of the October 7 massacre.
If confirmed, this goes far beyond political disagreement or provocation. These flags formed part of a memorial to the victims of the deadliest massacre of Jews since the Holocaust and to those abducted by Hamas. To deliberately interfere with such a memorial, on the eve of the anniversary of the attacks, would show a profound contempt for their memory and for the suffering of their families.
That such an incident is alleged to have taken place inside the European Parliament makes it all the more serious. We call on the Parliament to establish exactly what happened, make the relevant evidence public and, if the allegations are confirmed, take appropriate disciplinary action.
The victims of October 7 and the hostages deserve dignity and respect. Their memory must never become a target for political provocation.

I never defended Al-Husseini or his Nazi collaboration. This guy invented that because his collective guilt argument fell apart.
So now he's arguing against things I never said, blocking, unblocking, and declaring victory.

20-year-old forensic science student Benjamin William Day has pleaded guilty to murdering 24-year-old Maria Saceanu in a “Dexter”-style “kill room” at an Airbnb.
Benjamin, who was 19 at the time of the murder, spent hours covering the walls and floor with plastic sheeting and dressed in clothing resembling the TV character Dexter.
He luredMaria, a sex worker originally from Romania, to the property, where he inflicted 78 knife wounds. A pathologist said many of the wounds were inflicted after her death, while she also suffered defensive injuries to her hands.
He then attempted to dismember her body but abandoned the attempt after badly cutting his own hand. He called 999 and initially claimed his injury had been caused by a wild animal.
He originally claimed he acted in self-defence and said the room had been prepared to film a Dexter tribute video for TikTok.
On the second day of his trial, Benjamin Day changed his plea to guilty.
He has been remanded in custody and will be sentenced on 4 December 2026.
