When Europeans came to the Western Hemisphere, there was an existing landwar. The Indians were fighting each other for land and resources. In fact , all humans were imperialistic. You could write world history as one giant land war. The Aztecs came from what is now Colorado. The Sioux were invading the northern plains and stealing it from the Crow and Cheyenne. The Comanches were part of the Northern Ute complex but got run off by someone else and wound up conquering the Southern plains from the Apaches and Delawares. Land war, like slavery was the norm! And like slavery it was Western Civilization that stopped it. Imperialism was the norm for everyone until the end of WW2 when Western civilization began to say “hey, maybe invading other countries and taking their stuff isn’t cool “. Just like it was Denmark Britain and US that outlawed slavery. Jefferson built the first US navy to stop the Barbary pirates, North Africans, from attacking Europe on slave raids! The Arab slave trade enslaved WAY MORE white Europeans than black slaves that ended up in the Americas! Did you know Pennsylvania didn’t have any war with the Indians? Why? Because Pennsylvania is Quaker and they are pacifists. They lived peacefully with the natives and traded for land access. Indians are very independent thinkers. Within any given tribe some people were eager to assimilate with Europeans, some wanted to kill all Europeans. Some were like “hell yeah give me iron pots and axes and rifles and log cabins some were lit fuck that get the fuck off my land. World is complex and nuanced young man. History same. Not simple good guy bad guy. That thinking leads to dangerous ideas like Marxism. Bottom lines are capitalism can be used for evil but overall give s the most people the best opportunity and that slavery and land wars were ended by Western Civilization.
