A lot of what my colleague has shared online is very wrong. I fundamentally disagree with all of it and it does not represent me or the values I understand the company I work at to stand for.
There is a distinct difference between believing that society should not censor people and deciding that we have no responsibility to challenge language that dehumanizes others. Freedom of speech does not mean freedom from criticism, or the responsibility to care about the harm our words cause.
I have spoken to my coworker personally explaining my stance on this and she has apologized, she understands that much of what she said is wrong and takes accountability for the harm her words has caused.
That being said she is also a human being capable of becoming better. I think she can be better, hope you guys give her a chance to be as well.
