This new station in xi’an looks pretty spectacular. What it does that you don’t see in the US. Besides the obvious stuff is the use of *columns*. We have jettisoned columns, largely, because we think they’re bad/unsightly. But no columns means larger, more expensive caverns.

A very misguided cliché I hear in transit is “Nobody cares about opex because you can’t cut a ribbon.” Of course you can have a big photo op for a major operational improvement! And the politician that funds it will still be in office when it opens, unlike a capital project

My main advice to everyone building transit projects: cut your timeline in half. For this one, let’s cut it by 75%, at a minimum.
This makes no sense. We are outraged that @PennDOTNews plans to push construction of the Roosevelt Boulevard Subway until 2040!
