Interesting History. Did you Know that Pope Benedict was once a "suspect of Heresy"? Ok, and to preface, I don't think he was, but more precisely was shown by the 1969 report in Informations Catholiques Internationales. His habilitation thesis dealt with St. Bonaventure's conception of revelation. Ratzinger argued that revelation should not simply be identified with a collection of divinely revealed propositions—or simply with the written text of Scripture. Rather, revelation is fundamentally God's historical act of self-disclosure, which must be received and understood by a believing subject. Hence Scripture bears witness to revelation, but revelation itself is in some sense greater than the written text. His teacher, a the prominent dogmatic theologian Michael Schmaus, regarded this approach as a form of “dangerous Modernism” that threatened to subjectivize the concept of revelation. Most people today have never even heard of this type of nuanced debate about Divine Revelation. However, it's amazing to see how far the Vatican has fallen, considering this made you possibly a suspect of heresy, by Fr. James Martin and the German Bishops are not punished at all. The phrase "all religions lead to God" given by the Pope was defended by Catholic Apologists. I do not want to doom pill Catholics. Rather, I think if the Catholic Church is going to be salt and light to the world, she needs to realize that she has lost her saltiness.
