New paper alert!🚨 In this study, I explore the "boots on the ground" component of Russia's influence operations, showing how historically non-conforming social groups get co-opted to propagate Russia's geopolitical influence in Western democracies: journals.sagepub.com/doi/ful…

DEVELOPING STORY: Berlin ad agency LURE used images of Ukrainian victims to promote Russian outlet @meduza_en, which relies on crowdfunding. @MFA_Ukraine called it “marketing cynicism” and demanded removal and an apology. We’ve also contacted them 👇 🧵1/5

The showing of “Russians at War” by the Antenna Documentary Film Festival in Australia should be stopped. The representation of soldiers who have systemically and deliberately raped, looted, tortured, burned, kidnapped and murdered their way through #Ukraine (100K war crimes and counting) as ‘just normal soldiers’ is factually untrue and pure Russian propaganda. You cannot humanise this behaviour, only punish it. What’s next - a doco on why the Gestapo and SS were just misunderstood? Some moral leadership on this issue from our elected leaders would help.

🕯️ Today, we honor the lives lost in the Holocaust and heroes like Anatoliy Shapiro, a Ukrainian-born Jewish soldier who led the first troops to liberate Auschwitz. 🧵 1/7

Yay to new translated 🇺🇦books! In the climate where the people who have ~strong opinions~ about Donbas far outnumber those who actually know the region, "Ukrainian Sunrise" by Kateryna Zarembo is a valuable attempt to "decolonize the knowledge" about Donetsk & Luhansk regions🧵

“Trump’s return to power in the US raises serious questions about America’s future role in NATO,” says Prof. @ReneedeNevers. “This leaves European NATO with a serious security problem at a time when the threat to Europe from Russia is clear and present.” bit.ly/3OqfbkR

Russia is now severing the internet cables on which the US and Europe rely for global communications, two in one day. Probably no coincidence that Musk has the "solution" via his starlink. Naive western folks still has no idea what's coming.

Language dynamics in social media in🇺🇦 shifted dramatically since full scale invasion. For 1st time Ukrainian is the language of over 50% of posts & pages, up from 15% in 2020. Someone tell putin his “must keep 🇺🇦 in Ru World” plan backfired yet again. life.pravda.com.ua/society/u…
