Cpl. Shirat Yam Amar, 19, was an observation soldier at the Nahal Oz outpost, where she had arrived just two days before October 7.
When the attack began, Shirat Yam called her loved ones to make sure they were safe and warned them to get into their shelters. Although she was afraid, she reassured them that everything was okay.
In an act of immense courage, Shirat Yam grabbed the grenade that terrorists had thrown into the shelter and threw it back at them, saving the lives of her friends.
At 7:45 a.m., her family received her final message: "I think this is the end."
Her light will always guide our way.
