I'm extremely touched by this post. I'm honored and proud of the community the Indie Music Showcase has become.
I've found a difference between being added to a playlist and being included in a stream which has an associated playlist.
As an example, @UncleFunkbeard broadcasts his weekly Indie Music Showcase streaming every Monday on Twitch. Timing is awkward for me in the UK although I can usually stream it live... But when I can't listen/watch live I watch the stream playback first because it includes the chat as well as the music.
I then bookmark the artists/songs that grab my ears and won't let go, but often don't have time to play through the full associated YT playlist with my full attention (it deserves more than being played as background music, that's for sure).
Then there're playlists not associated with live streams... I don't very often get added to those because my music is generally not in a mainstream genre but I see the same behaviour as you... And just hope that at some point ppl will realise that there's no community effect without participating in the community.
I know that's a naive view... But I'd rather believe that ppl can be pulled up into working with others than that they'll all drag us down to their level. 🤷
