A little forest waterfall amongst the redwoods. The red pebbles are what first caught my attention.

I'm not sure what kind of bird this is, but he kind of started me when I looked over. I was totally expecting him to take off before I could get my camera pointed over that we but he didn't seem bothered by me. Then Ryder 🐾 seen him and tried going swimming.

I thought that I was going to scout this lighthouse for blue hour for when the lighthouse light is illuminated. It turned out that I liked this photo so much that I got to move on to other locations. Which indirectly led to last night. I'm so stoked to go through the photos of last night!

I have never and will never use A.i. anywhere in my photos. Xiaomi's cameras are just that good.

I was blessed to see the best sunset of the year and one of the best that I've seen. It was just at a run of the mill flat lake, so I was incessantly looking for intersecting lines and a pleasurable composition. What I was seeing was the way the orange light was bouncing off and enhancing the shoreline. Hopefully you like it.

I don't blame her

Sorry I've been slow to get back to everyone, I'm in northern Michigan with no reception at the same time the tree canopies have the final say whether my Starlink works, and they said no. Anyway here's a photo of an icy morning with a whole bunch of fog and flowers which are kind of rare to see all together.

Stillness...

When the sun cuts through the leaves and branches on a day with lots of humidity, dust, or pollen you can get an effect like Godrays at sunset. In this case I was waiting for like an hour for another truck to come down this dusty road after I seen the effect it was giving. The lighting was just incredible.

This little pond inside of Crater Lake somehow steals the show. The blues of this place are absolutely incredible.

Here's two different worlds in one photograph. My lens was halfway in the water which was quite nerve wracking.

I hope you're not tired of seeing rocks yet because I love rocks, even though I know little about them. This might sound a bit odd to you, but sometimes I try not to learn about some places that I photograph to keep my logical mind out of the equation when I'm photographing a location. For example if I'm thinking about what kind of rocks and how they formed, then my mind isn't focused on the light.

The cactus looks like it is intently watching over it's land. I honestly didn't know they could grow at that type of elevation 🤷

Laguna Beach isn't the first place that comes to mind when you think of cattle like structures but here we are. I accidentally stumbled upon this location, which I enjoy more than finding a spot on maps then navigating there.

Is anyone else a huge fan ofsand dunes? There's something about when the light hits them right and illuminates the one side and brings out all of the textures.

I love this photo because this was such a lovely moment caught by my camera between a grandmother and grandson. He was giving her a seashell he found, but man, what I would do to have one more moment like this with my gram. These are the type of moments that makes life worth living.

Yesterday was the first day that I missed posting a photo in a long time. Hopefully this makes up for it :)

My favorite thing about Utah is how the rocks contrast with the blue skies especially right before sunset.

The wind blown lilly pads gave this scene a whole lot of depth. The bad part, I ruined another pair of shoes and what's somehow worse than that? I was flying my drone when I did it 🤦

It was love at first sight

I was just there. That's a fantastic suggestion, it's the exact type of suggestion I'm looking for.

I could use some help friends... I've been on a huge kick this past couple of years looking beyond the national parks for photo opportunities. I'm running low on low profile locations, so if you have any suggestions that would be great. If it's a secret location you can DM me and I won't tell anyone where it is at. If I end up going there I will give you a print.

This was my favorite sunset storm that I witnessed. The sun got below the cloud deck (not literally) and lit up the bottom of the Mamantus clouds. My mind was in its photography glory.

That is a vast waterfall, you show it off well.

If you tilt your phone sideways to view this photo in landscape orientation you won't be disappointed! Or maybe you will, but all of the details come out when you view this picture large.

To get this shot I had to park illegally, run out in the pouring rain. Then walk almost a mile only to realize I forgot my memory card, buy a memory card, go back to this spot, back to wallgreens because the friggen memory card was bad, then back here to fight with an incredibly fogged up lens for another half hour. I was absolutely drenched.

That guy looks like a potential spoiler

I've noticed so many city's beltways PTZ cameras have popped up almost overnight at a distance of about 1 mile between them. Michigan is starting it's pilot program of charging .5 per mile driven. These two things are not unrelated.

Sometimes the most unpleasant conditions can be some of the most awe inspiring. It was a bit scary having my drone follow me around in these kind of winds but it handled it like a champ.

A simple beach photo but with a few distinctive features that made me really like it, the main one being the repetitive pattern in the water.

The trees gave me a perfect frame of the Grand Canyon. I took this one as a newbie and knew something was there, but it wasn't till I matured as a photographer that I actually saw what I was going for, and that it just needed a simple crop and brighter for it to shine. I know memory is expensive now but don't erase your SD cards, even if you're not a photographer.

Another rule that they say is you shouldn't photograph in high contrast afternoon light. You should wait till golden hour. Obviously I disagree with that sentiment. This one was taken at 3 in the afternoon. I like that you X-twitter photographers seem to experiment more and have different work than the Zuckerberg platforms.

This fella stayed still just long enough for me to get a long exposure while keeping himself sharp in the frame. Thanks little buddy.

The last rule of the day to break and I literally just watched a reel about how you shouldn't have too much sky, and that's not the first time I heard this. No more than a third of the picture he says. As a casual storm chaser I say show off those dramatic skies as much as possible! Seriously though guys and girls, use your own set of eyes. Experiment and push your boundaries my friends.

The rule of thirds is probably my biggest pet peeve. All the rule of thirds is good for is balance but if you look through some of the best photos, the subjects can be centered, off centered, or even rarely in the corners. The subjects of this photo (the two odd clouds) are at the very top AND the very bottom of the photo. But notice the photo is still plenty balanced. Notice you CAN have two subjects or even no subjects. The point of these tips are not to try to sound pretentious or superior, but to get your creative minds flowing. If there's anything we need in the world right now, it's a lack of conformity. Sure these rules can turn you into a good photographer, but breaking the rules can give you results unlike the others, which in my opinion can make you a great photographer.

One of the biggest rules in photography is that you must have a distinct subject. While that mostly the case, it's not always the case. I'm going to post photos that are exceptions to the rule today to prove there are no rules.
