I couldn’t agree more and am looking forward to the day this kind of music service exists. However, I’m not waiting for it but have already started building a next-gen music client on top of existing music services with @overtone_app.

2009 version: 20MB fully native cocoa app, launches in less than a second, instant feedback when you click stuff, playback usually starts within 50ms

Have been having fun following along what @overtone_app are building - a consolidated music client (desktop, web, mobile). Music lovers know the pain of having music spread between various subscriptions/services/UXs. Can't wait for it!
