Last night every channel on $Anyone Live went down at once, for every viewer. The cause: one overloaded Guard Relay on the $Anyone Network. Nothing noticed, and nothing switched away from it. Here's what happened and what we changed in 1.9.50 Two causes made it possible: Our server stayed on a Guard that was timing out 2 of every 3 connections. Our app sent every viewer through the same 40 "fastest" Relays. On a network this size, that piles everyone onto a few Relays and overloads them The fix: • The app no longer pins Guards. Viewers spread across the whole Network. • If a Guard keeps failing, the app switches away from it on its own. • A watchdog on our server drops a failing Guard and recovers within minutes. Privacy first. Now sturdier too.

Community builders keep pushing what can be built on Anyone. Anyone Live TV now brings private streaming to the big screen, with each stream routed through the Anyone network and privacy handled at the network layer by default. This is what Anyone enables: private applications that can live on the network without compromising the user experience.
base:0xe67f39fbe8c24ef8b3542efed1ee9963cefc1f2a Live TV is now built for the Big Screen. Anyone Live is A Privacy-First Live TV App: Every channel is streamed through the Anyone Network, so you can watch TV without handing your viewing habits to anyone. Here's what's new on Fire TV 👇 🗂 A real TV Guide The Live TV screen is completely redesigned. Categories sit on the left with how many channels each has, the channel list is in the middle with logos and what's on now, and a live preview plays on the right. Channel numbers stay the same in every category, so channel 0042 is always channel 0042. 🔼🔽 Channel up / down, like real TV While watching full screen, press UP or DOWN on the remote to switch channels. The channels next to you are prepared in the background, so they start quickly, and channels that have stopped working are skipped automatically. Every change shows an info bar with the channel number, logo, what's on now with a progress bar, and what's next. 🔍 Search as you type Thousands of channels, found in seconds. Open Search, start typing on the on-screen keyboard, and matching channels appear with every letter. Accents and capitals don't matter: "futbol" finds "Fútbol". 🌍 Your Language first No more lists mixing a dozen languages. Live TV now opens on your TV's language, and one click switches to any other language (or all of them), with a channel count for each. Behind the scenes, our server now works out a language for many channels that never had one. 🛡 Protected, honestly The top bar shows a shield and "Protected" once your connection to the $Anyone Network is up, and "Connecting…" until it is. Channels whose video never leaves the network are marked "Stays in network". We'd rather show less than claim more than is true. ⚡ Faster, and fewer dead ends Our server now checks every channel's actual video in the background, not just its playlist, and hides the ones that are broken or too slow to start. Channels that start fast get a ⚡ badge. On the phone, switching to a channel next to the one you're watching now usually starts in about one second. 📱 Works on Fire TV and Android phones. Favorites, languages and your recent channels follow you around the app. This is just the start. Next up: Recently watched channels in the guide, a "Surprise me" button, and parental controls. Private TV shouldn't feel like a compromise. 🛡📺 @AnyoneFDN #Privacy #FireTV #IPTV #AnyoneProtocol

One of the things I admire most about the Anyone ecosystem is how actively the community contributes to it. People aren’t just running relays. They’re building tools that make the network more accessible, and easier to understand. The Wallet Explorer, built by @RobausHalle, is a great example. It provides the community with visibility into: 📊 Network metrics ⚙️ Operator earnings 📡 Individual relay performance 💰 Staking rewards ⏳ Unstaking activity 📈 Chart analytics Tools like this give users another way to independently examine network activity and understand what’s happening under the hood. And that matters. Decentralization is strengthened by transparency. When network data is accessible, people can analyze it, and verify activity independently. That’s how open networks build trust. Hey Vitalik, Why not utilise the @anyonefdn stack to avoid leaking who you are through the network layer / IP. We have built the world's largest onion routing network by active relays, administered from Ethereum and scaled through community incentives, all without taking a penny of US government funding (unlike, say, the Tor project). Different privacy networks have different strengths. For applications like this, Anyone can be integrated directly through our SDK and would be a strong fit. Would be extremely happy to talk this through!

This is the future of online privacy, and if you study the tech behind it you'll realize that eventually the adoption curve of the @AnyoneFDN network will go up exponentially. Classic VPNs and the slow TOR network are outdated. @cz_binance @ethereumJoseph @fundstrat @MarioNawfal
Just casually watching YouTube while $ANYONE routes my traffic through Germany, the Netherlands and South Africa. I’m not in any of these countries right now. This is the future I see for @AnyoneFDN You don’t change how you use the internet. You just make the internet you already use private.

Avoid leaking who you are through @AnyoneFDN FFS @VitalikButerin you are doing a terrible job of supporting a network founded on Ethereum that completely outshines Tor on every level. Would love to know your reasons behind a decision like this!

base:0xe67f39fbe8c24ef8b3542efed1ee9963cefc1f2a Live TV 1.9.11 is out ⚡ Private Live TV, now at Full Speed. This week was all about Speed and Reliability. Every number below was measured on a Real phone, with every stream still routed over the $Anyone Network. ⚡ Faster Channel Changes While you watch, the App quietly Builds the route to the channels before and after yours, and on Wi-Fi it fetches their first seconds of video too. Swipe, and the next channel is already waiting Result: A typical channel change went from 6.3 s to 1.2 s. 👆 Quicker tap-to-play The moment your finger rests on a channel in the List, the base:0xe67f39fbe8c24ef8b3542efed1ee9963cefc1f2a App starts connecting, before the tap even finishes. 🧹Dead channels, Handled • The server checks every channel in the background, and now tests the actual video, not just the playlist • Broken, empty or unplayable streams are hidden from the list (74 unsupported channels removed overnight) • A channel that dies answers in seconds instead of hanging for half a minute • While surfing, the app checks the channels next to you and skips dead ones before you land on them • If one still fails, it says so and moves to the next channel on its own. Tap Stay to keep it 🛠 More stable • Fixed a crash on some channels while surfing • The screen no longer goes dark while you browse the guide • On Fire TV, the screen stays on while you watch 🔒 Still Private No tracking. Your location is never shown on the route map. Speed timings stay on your device and never include which channel you watched. Android + Fire TV. Update from Settings → Check for updates. @AnyoneFDN

What's new in $Anyone Live TV Every Stream still rides the $Anyone Network, end to end. This update makes it Faster, Cleaner and Easier to trust. 🗺️ Route map See the Relays your stream hops through on a world map. Only the Relays are shown: never your location, never the channel's server. The map is Built into the app, so drawing it contacts nothing. 🎟️ Anonymous passes Channels play with blind-signed passes instead of your account. Our server can check a pass is valid, but can't tell which account it came from, so it can't build a watch history. ⚡ Faster channel changes The next and previous channels' routes are built while you watch. In our tests, most channel changes now start in about 4 seconds. 🧹 Dead channels, Gone The server checks every channel in the background and hides the ones that stopped working. A channel that doesn't respond now gives up in seconds, not minutes, and swiping skips it. 📱 Also new Picture-in-picture on phones. Favorites with the remote on Fire TV (press ≡). The screen stays on while you watch, even on an error. Update from inside the app: Profile on phone, Settings on Fire TV.

Day 13 of building $Anyone Map in public. base:0xe67f39fbe8c24ef8b3542efed1ee9963cefc1f2a Today: Bandwidth — What the page pulls from the network while it sits open in a tab. I measured it instead of guessing. The answer was embarrassing: About 24 MB per hour, Per open tab. Now it is about 1 MB. Same data, Same freshness. (Card attached.) The Worst offender: The .anyone domain list. 1,688 names. It changes a few times a day. The map was fetching it directly from the upstream API every 60 seconds — 315 KB, Uncompressed — in every open tab, whether the Domains panel was open or not. 19 MB an hour for a list that barely moves. Now the list goes through my own Proxy: fetched upstream at most once every 5 minutes for everyone, stored, served compressed (96 KB), and stamped with an ETag. An ETag is a fingerprint of the content. The $Anyone Map sends it back on the next poll and asks "Has this changed?" If not, the answer is a 304: zero bytes. The panel polls every 60 s while open, every 5 min while closed. Same trick for the three things the map polls all session long: the Relay Registry (180 KB every 3 min), The Hardware Relays set and the Exit Relays set (every 60 s). The Hardware set rebuilds Hourly. Polling it 60 times an hour and downloading it 60 times was pointless. Now it is 59 × "unchanged, 0 bytes" and one download. The rule from Day 10 was: Never show a number without the age of the snapshot it came from. Day 13 adds the corollary: never show a number you made up because the real one was missing. And the Bandwidth part is the same idea from the other side — don't download what you already have. Numbers you can check: open the map, open DevTools, watch the 304s.
