🌊 COASTAL STORM TO CRANK UP BY FRIDAY — MAJOR COASTAL FLOODING & BIG WINDS... We’re entering Day 2 of a strong, persistent push of Atlantic water toward the NJ coastline. Water is already piling up, and with each tide cycle unable to fully drain, Friday morning’s high tide becomes increasingly concerning for pockets of MAJOR coastal flooding. 💨 THE WIND FIELD WILL BE IMPRESSIVE. As the storm expands, the wind field will strengthen and spread inland, bringing gusty winds well away from the immediate coast and potentially into the Hudson Valley. The forecast remains largely LOCKED IN, with only minor changes. The global models are finally shifting a little farther west, moving closer to the ensemble guidance that has favored a western solution from the start. 👇 Below is one of the best illustrations of the wind potential, with peak gusts approaching 60 MPH across Long Island, especially along south-facing shorelines. Window washers on the upper floors of the north tower. They would ride on powered-carriages that were built into the buildings themselves. Somebody Amazon’d a sunshade onto a heated A320 window. Guess what happened. May 2026 Airbus Safety First. Crew bought a sunshade online and put it on the right sliding window. The shade trapped heat. The window heat sensor was already failed, so the system kept heating on bad data. Window got hot and started distorting. Crew got the alerts, pulled the window CB, and diverted. On final the right window cracked. Inner ply is stretched acrylic. It shrank and showed the interlayer. Outer ply held. They landed. Same article warns about suction-cup tablet holders. Same heat trap, and they can fall off in turbulence. Use the sun visors that already sit in the cockpit. If you need a tablet, mount it on the frame, not on the window.

But the details may be hiding in the ensembles as multiple runs of the same model designed to show the range of possible outcomes has come west. The EURO, EURO Ensemble and AI guidance all show a bend back to the west with a strong phasing happening by Friday night, which keeps meaningful rain in play for NYC. Confidence remains higher on the coastal impacts: 🌬️ Wednesday Night - Thursday: Gusty winds develop as the pressure gradient tightens, with gusts potentially topping 40 mph along the coast. 🌧️ Friday Night: Bands of heavier rain could begin rotating into Long Island and the Jersey Shore, with how far west that rain gets still the BIG question. 🌊 Coast: Long-duration onshore flow continues to raise concerns for coastal flooding, rough surf and beach erosion.
