If you're new to my commentary:
I'm a political independent — I don't support either establishment party or their corporate media mouthpieces.
I'm a follower of Jesus (not of organized religion), and I believe we are called to protect the vulnerable and oppressed.
I grew up a hunter and gun owner, was a child conscript, and survived a decade in a war zone. Which is why I find human violence, in all its terrible forms, to be a scourge on our planet.
I've been working in national politics for 25 years, and I've come to recognize that Americans are among the most propagandized people in the world.
I believe in liberty and justice for ALL, freedom of speech and religion, due process, and our Constitutional right to protest.
I respect those who are willing to defend their principles under all circumstances, not just when it fits a partisan agenda.
I believe in honor, loyalty, integrity, fairness, family, and community.
I believe no one in America (or anywhere) should be homeless, hungry, or lack health care.
I don't want my government subsidizing war crimes or fighting other people's conflicts.
I respect healthy debate and disagreement, but I have no tolerance for duopoly talking points and spin.
Most importantly, I believe we must treat each other with compassion, kindness, and love.

No pick. Just pure fingerstyle — speed, precision, phrasing, and real musicality all at once. This performance of “The Price Of Love” is a masterclass in control and feel.
A lot of people are calling him generational… and after watching this, it’s easy to see why.

The world is celebrating John Coltrane's centennial. Coltrane is revered for works such as A Love Supreme and Giant Steps. What's less commonly known is that he was a master ballad player. "Ballads" and "John Coltrane and Johnny Hartman" are among the best albums ever recorded.

Both recordings are works of immense soul and beauty. Tender, profound readings of standards, with the Ballads album recorded mostly in single takes.
When I was signed to Columbia Records in the 90s, I had the incredible honor of being introduced to Bob Thiele, who produced both albums. Talking to him about those sessions was surreal.

"To be enlightened is to be surprised at everything."
When the outcome of a game is known, the game is cancelled—because the whole point of playing the game is that we don’t know the outcome. Because the known future is already past, and the higher the degree of certainty of knowledge as to the future, to that extent it has happened. You’ve had it. And we don’t want to put the future in that situation—not really.
Because, you see, if you think of the cosmos as basically a game of hide-and-seek—where the lord god is creating the universe by forgetting that he’s god and imagining that he’s you—then this is the fundamental way of getting rid of the eternal boredom of knowing all about it, and of there being no surprises.
The whole vitality of being alive is that it is always surprising. To be enlightened is to be surprised at everything; that it is a wonder, that everything is a miracle, that it is highly improbable and really shouldn’t’ve happened at all—but there it is, you see? If there isn’t that sense, there is no vitality in anything.

Food for thought.
Every electron in the universe might be the same electron.
In 1940, John Wheeler called Richard Feynman and suggested that the reason every electron has exactly the same mass and charge, to a precision we cannot even measure a deviation from, is that there is only one of them.
A single electron, weaving forwards and backwards through time, threading through every moment of cosmic history, appearing as matter when it moves one way and as its antiparticle when it moves the other.
The idea was never proven, but it was never quite killed either. The math allows it.
An electron going backwards in time is mathematically identical to a positron going forwards, and the equations do not care which description you pick.
If Wheeler was right, then the particle in your retina reading this sentence is the same particle burning in the heart of a star ten billion light years away.
You are not made of many things. You are made of one thing, seen from many angles at once.
