Checked exception is the worst because it forces the definition of the “result error enum” on every function. Then there are situations where results shine (tight numerics code) and other situations where exceptions shine (higher level code).

I'd expect in numerics code you don't fall off the happy path open, making table based exception dispatch cheaper than result-type propagation. WDYM?

Errors as results become part of the control flow and let the compiler see more of what’s happening. The programmer can decide to accumulate the errors before bailing out of a loop which can enable more optimizations.
