Today we are releasing our first alpha of our next major version of Apollo Client 4.0. This is a major milestone as it will be the first major release of Apollo Client in nearly 5 years.

Today we released Apollo Client 4.0-alpha.0.
The biggest two changes:
We switched over to rxjs as our observable layer, and we completely revamped the bundling story.
That's a big boost for interoperability, general bundle size and tree-shaking.

But there's also a ton of other changes.
`useLazyQuery` has gotten a rewrite, and a lot of the core has been rewritten to be more ergonomic to use outside of React.
Lots more to come, but please already try this out now - we need your feedback!

This has now been released in 3.12.5. Hopefully this provides a smoother upgrade path from older versions of Apollo Client! Thanks to everyone for the feedback.
We are changing the default behavior of the `MaybeMasked` type starting with Apollo Client 3.12.5. We've had feedback that upgrading to 3.12 has been more challenging than expected given the current default is to unwrap the types. 3.12.5 will now leave query types alone until you explicitly opt-out of masking in TypeScript, which will then apply unmasking to your types.

A default feed that's not algorithmic, with user-hosted algorithmic feeds that everyone can just install into the app as they please.
A platform with an open API, and a big number of third-party apps that are free and actually work (bye, broken Tweetdeck).
