Your timeline might have quite a lot of butterflies today, and I've seen a bunch of people voicing the opinion that it's just "the libs leaving X". No. It's just impossible to have a technical discourse on a platform that uses an algorithm so tuned to ragebait.

I'm not even from your continent, and my timeline is politics, politics, politics. That's not what I signed up for, and it's exhausting. It's a good time to leave for a place that *can* be what Tech Twitter was at some point - and so much more:

A default feed that's not algorithmic, with user-hosted algorithmic feeds that everyone can just install into the app as they please. A platform with an open API, and a big number of third-party apps that are free and actually work (bye, broken Tweetdeck).

A platform that is open for experimentation, and most importantly: feels welcoming. At this point, my feed over there has most of the people I was following over here, and it gets better ever day - they have a million sign-ups/day now. Come over, too. You'll enjoy it.

No, honestly I just followed some people that I liked to the platform they went to - and then I liked what I saw and stayed :) I'm sure there are other alternatives, too, but this one already seems "good enough" for me and has the people I'm interested in.
