Make practice the best part of a kid’s day.
‼️ Joy is a competitive advantage ‼️ The mainstream perception of ‘good coaching’ is screaming at players, no joking around and no fun on the floor. A lot of coaches, players and fans view fun and hard work as an ‘either, or’. Every competitive coach struggles with this. There isn’t one who hasn’t lost the joy amidst the grind. BUT…. When JOY AND HARD WORK are in SYNC, it’s game over. 👇🏼 🎥 @Jakobrooks

If we’re not having fun, what are we there for? Can’t imagine putting in the time and energy it takes to coach and just yelling the entire time. No bueno good. (As my first grader learning Spanish would say)

Important to define “fun” in athletics. It’s not silly, grab-ass fun. 🚫 It’s competitive, gamified, cutthroat fun. 🔥 Not drudgery; not doing random hard things in a state of fatigue. 🚫

I have been told by 3 groups of seniors that I need to yell at them more during practice. My reply was,”I did not get into coaching to yell at players and if that is the only way for you to listen to me then you won’t play.
