Medical Care: Republicans cut health care for 17 MILLION people, forcing those without insurance to pay high prices for X-rays, blood tests, and doctors’ visits. 5. Health Insurance: Even for those who can afford to keep their health insurance, many will see their premiums increase or Medicaid co-pays go up. 6. Student Loans: Republicans raised loan payments for many families by hundreds of dollars a month and forced many borrowers to repay their loans for another 10 years to get student debt cancellation. 7. Grad School: Republicans limited how much you can take out in loans to go to medical school and law school.

Good points Today, I learned from a friend who works at an excellent research-focused hospital that they’ve had a significant number of layoffs in at least two departments. This was directly due to Trump defying a court order and freezing grants and loans for critical research, including cancer research. This isn’t just a minor issue—it’s devastating. The majority of those laid off were long-tenured employees. In one of the affected departments, patient scheduling and services will likely slow down, which will have a significant impact. And when you multiply this across all the other local hospitals experiencing similar cuts, the consequences for both healthcare workers and patients will be severe. At the same time, the impact of immigration policies on supply and pricing is already being felt. And then there’s the matter of the 75,000+ federal layoffs. Once they take effect, I can only imagine the ripple effects—many of these workers were engaged in critical projects, and there has been absolutely no planning for how these cuts will affect them, let alone the businesses and workers who rely on providing goods and services to these agencies. This was purely a political decision. There’s no evidence of widespread “grift” among federal workers, especially at the lower levels. P.S.: What exactly did he do with the CDC besides raiding their site.

A quick refresher: 1995 Trump made a $200k donation in exchange for being named "grand marshal" of a Veterans Day parade. 1997 Trump reflecting on the dangers of dating because of STDs: “It is a dangerous world out there — it's scary, like Vietnam. Sort of like the Vietnam era. It is my personal Vietnam. I feel like a great and very brave soldier.” 1999 Trump: “While disabled veterans should be given every opportunity to earn a living, is it fair to do so to the detriment of the city as a whole or its tax paying citizens and businesses?” 2004 Trump: “Whether they are veterans or not, they [the vendors] should not be allowed to sell on this most important and prestigious shopping street.” 2015 Trump says his boarding school provided “more training militarily than a lot of the guys that go into the military.” 2015 Trump: “(McCain’s) a war hero because he was captured. I like people that weren’t captured, okay? I hate to tell you.” 2016 Trump belittled the Gold Star parents of a slain Muslim soldier. 2018 Trump describes America’s honored war dead as losers and suckers. 2018 Trump skips the traditional presidential visit to Arlington National Cemetery on Veterans Day, saying: “I was extremely busy on calls for the country.
