On Tuesday, the Election Commission said all was well:
The 14 objections by two of its three members were "suggestions," every decision was "unanimous."
With in 48 hours, on Saturday, it issued NINE decisions. Read them against the 14 notes. It's a U-TURN, not in what it says, but in what it does.
And it still leaves some hard Qs unanswered.

In #Bihar you didn’t issue a searchable data till SC asked you to. After you released the searchable data, there were multiple captchas making it equally difficult to access. When people managed to enter into the data, they found everything in hotchpotch.
It was SC that instructed you that you should at least tell people as why you are deleting them
In #Bengal, lesser we talk its better. BLOs had handed out notices of Logical discrepancies to people and then the people had no assistance from ECI whatsoever. BLOs had no instruction to collect revised documents and upload.
In Bengal, the website was as good as the free wifi service at the airport or railway station. It will take all you details, send OTP but you will never fully be able to access.
Mr Ganesh Kumar will take five questions as one and then answer in a Press Conference. But for voters there were five CAPTCHAS to access one detail.
In Bengal show us one HELP DESK that you had made for the assistance of poor rural villagers. They were made to stand in queue for hearing. As if they were some undertrial accused.
ECI did nothing to even educate people as how to file a petition before Tribunal. There are people who are still in dark as how to file a review petition.
ECI in Bengal simply deleted voters. And now they are trying to show they are kind and professional - creating HELP Desks.
I miss Blackberry because they are the only ones who had “Talk To My Hand” emoji

1. During non-SIR period, old Form 6 will be used.
2. A Committee headed by Sr Dy EC including an expert from IIT /IIIT will review ECINET.
3. To help electors whose names have been removed in the SIR exercise, ECI will launch a special drive to enrol their names.

Every 24th September, the story gets told the same way. Dhoni's helicopter of a captaincy,Sreesanth catching that skier, Joginder Sharma bowling that last over. India won the first T20 World Cup on this day in 2007 & every year anniversary belongs to men in the frame. The man who built the frame barely gets a mention. Nobody rings up Lalchand Rajput. Nobody ever does.
Lalchand Rajput was never even called the coach. BCCI gave him the title "Cricket Manager", a semantic back door they would later use to walk him out of the job.
He inherited ruins. Chappell had gone, 2007 ODI World Cup had been a disaster, effigies were still warm & Sachin,Ganguly and Dravid had opted out of a format nobody trusted. The squad had played one T20I between them. captain had never captained anything.
Rajput took that mess & along with Dhoni gave it one line to live by. "Pressure lene ka nahi, pressure dene ka". Typical Mumbai words, the kind you hear on a Wankhede maidan on a Sunday morning.
What began as a dressing room joke, Robin Uthappa later admitted, Rajput kept repeating until it became the team's spine. He gave young men permission to fail, which is the only way young men ever play freely. He broke the senior-junior hierarchy over Nando's chicken orders in Dhoni's room. He made PowerPoints on opposition weaknesses and then got out of the captain's way.
Nobody talks about the bowl out against Pakistan properly either. That wasn't luck. Rajput, Venkatesh Prasad and Robin Singh had worked out beforehand that spinners hit the stumps more often than fast bowlers do without a batsman standing there. Sehwag, Harbhajan and Uthappa were picked for exactly that reason. People remember Uthappa's celebration. Almost nobody remembers why he was even bowling.
Then came the erasure. He managed India through Monkeygate & CB Series win in Australia, 2 overseas triumphs in 6 months. Sachin Tendulkar spoke highly of him and even wrote a positive recommebdation for him to Sharad Pawar. A senior player called his sacking "a stupid decision". But BCCI kept Prasad and Robin Singh, dropped Rajput.
He didn't sit around sulking about it. Took that same Khadoos stubbornness to Afghanistan, got them Test status. Took it to Zimbabwe when players were boycotting over unpaid salsries and left them with Sikandar Raza's second career. Now he sits in the UAE camp & help the youngsters with same mindset he helped Dhoni's yoing turks.
So today, when 2007 trophy pictures do the rounds again, spare one thought for the man who was never in the frame. Beacuse some architects don't get their names on the building. They just make sure it stands.

Senior journalists now saying "It is no secret" that Gyanesh Kumar was a tinpot dictator. Strange, though, that the same journalists never talked about it until the Express investigation ripped the facade.
BTW, this has all the earmarks of the regime getting set to throw Gyanesh under the bus (in any case, his tenure has very little more to go).
ये कोई secret नहीं है कि ज्ञानेश कुमार Election Commission को अपनी जागीर समझते हैं. उन्हें ना तो इस बात की परवाह है कि कानूनन बाकी दोनों चुनाव आयुक्त भी उनके बराबर हैं. ना ही उन्हें इस बात की परवाह है कि उनके attitude की वजह से Election Commission की ख़ूब बदनामी हुई है.
