Round 3️⃣, day 2️⃣, and a question of the day from US Open Radio!
The stars are out at the US Open. 🌟 Novak hung out with Fat Joe and Coco caught up with Simone Biles. If you were playing, which celebrity would you want cheering you on courtside?

It hurts to watch this. Can’t imagine what she’s going through - inside & out.
I am also baffled at the emphasis on trying to fix the serve & the technical details…& yet we all know the yips are very much mental. This is not just technical; she needs a performance coach.
2) Of course, associated team members may care more about the athlete vs person, so athletes should take caution as to whom they seek advice from.
To play or not to play, it’s a personal decision that all struggle w/...but a topic any athlete could discuss w/ their therapist!
Maybe the better question is HOW can Tua make a sound decision re his fball career. From a psych perspective, it’s helping the athlete to take off the “sport blinders” to reflect on their current values, personal & athletic goals, etc. Also leaning on his team to help…

Well said @MardyFish. This a reminder that no person/group is immune to mental health struggles. A common response is “But why? They were so successful.” Money, fame, talent, even popularity is NEVER the cure & can actually exacerbate problems.
May u rest in ❤️& peace Grayson.
1) Altho I’m wrapping up another year at one VA Hospital, I’ll be returning to a different one next year for my 5th & final yr of my doctoral training. Why veterans? Bc I suspected there might be a lot of similarities to the athlete population & since the supports for Vets..
2) is much more established vs sports, I knew I’d learn a lot here. (The military is the largest employer for sports psychologists!) Depression, anxiety, trauma, suicidality, substance use, early retirement, career transitioning, chronic pain/injuries, relational issues,
3) homelessness: you name it, I’ve seen it. To all the Vets, thank you for your service. I recognize the system isn’t perfect, but I hope some of my peers & I have shown up that there r people who care deeply & r are here to help. I’m 4ever changed because of u. Thank u. 🙏🏽 ❤️
1) I’m 365 days away from graduating and becoming a Dr/psychologist, but as one of my mentors wittingly said, “Waiting is manufactured anxiety. Think of it as ‘You are already here.” His words were a reminder that waiting can often times imply this impatience…
2) unhappiness or unwillingness to be in the present moment. Waiting for the next big job, waiting until the next milestone, waiting until I make $__, waiting to lose those few extra pounds - We will never be satisfied if our so-called happiness lies in the future. The key is..
“Yes, there r some stories written in the stars. There r other stories written together - 2 people, the Universe had no plans for, writing their story in the stars together.” - Miguel
However it’s written, there is beauty in every journey.

9 times out of 10, I cry/well up w/ tears anytime I watch This Is Us. Incredibly cathartic. Makes me feel better knowing I cried over a show vs just….well, crying randomly over nothing.
🤣
Toby is also bout that best boy friend that’s ever lived. At least thus far. Dude has the patience of a Saint. #ThisIsUs
Can someone rewatch it or start watching it so I can just tweet with them about this roller coaster I’m on?
Who runs the @NBCThisisUs handle. I need them!
I love this comeback so much. There’s always a subset (obviously not all) of sports fans or viewers who have so much to say/complain about re their team or show…yet they can’t handle when athletes express opinions about anything other than their sport.
Another way of asking the reporter’s question (“is this a hard or soft decision to retire”) is to prompt a player to discuss what factors are contributing to their retirement decision, such as performance, results, personal, physical health, financial or social factors.
