☀️ Thank you for making Summer Eats happen! “It’s nice to go out somewhere, be out in fresh air, activities with kids, and obviously, some food,” said Svetlana B., a parent who brought her kids to the Salem Summer Eats kickoff.
This summer, Massachusetts families with kids in school can get $120 per child to help with grocery expenses through SUN Bucks. Use these funds at grocery stores, farmers’ markets, or select online shops while school is out. Apply by August 31!

“Summer Eats is great because you’re feeding kids, and you may have some kids that there’s food insecurity at home and such,” shared Blaise C., who has been in food service for 43 years. He’s retiring soon and wants to make the most of his career feeding kids.
Meet Emily Cabrera, a Nutrition Services Coordinator at Project Bread. “The most impactful thing about my job is to make sure our families get the food, kitchen supplies, and support they need,” she says.
“I love being a part of the community and seeing the kids on a daily basis,” said Anna H., who works at Summer Eats at the Gill-Montague School District. “I love that I also am a part of helping with food insecurities.”
“There should be no person, no kid who's left hungry,” shared Pratigya, a parent in Salem who started bringing her family to Summer Eats last year. Across Massachusetts, kids and teens are enjoying FREE, nutritious meals at Summer Eats sites all summer long!
One year ago, Congress passed the largest rollback of federal nutrition assistance in U.S. history. Today, the harm is here. Since the "Big Beautiful Bill" became law in July 2025, more than 61,000 children in Massachusetts have lost SNAP.

Congress passed the largest cut to SNAP in the program’s history last year, stripping $187 billion from a program that supports 38 million Americans. The House Farm Bill did nothing to reverse it. The Senate is writing its own version, & we need it to protect and strengthen SNAP!
It’s been over a month since The Walk for Hunger! Thousands of people of all ages, backgrounds, and walks of life gathered on Boston Common, united in the mission to combat hunger and build a food-secure future for MA. Hundreds more joined in from around the globe.
