Usually when something like this happens a third party testing lab is set up. Something like UL (Underwritiers Laboratory) did for electrical device safety.

OpenAI and Anthropic are competing for the lead...and slowing down means risking handing the advantage to the other
Just because you write beautiful fkin poetry about protecting humanity doesn’t mean that competition disappears overnight
Elon gave the most practical AI safety solution...one that actually matches reality instead of pretending these companies will suddenly hold hands and stop competing
They want to beat each other? Good. Make them test each other’s models. Use that rivalry to expose safety failures instead of asking the world to trust their beautiful fkin promises
Give competitors access before release and let them try to break the model. Let them challenge your safety and alignment claims
The logic is simple...your competitor has a reason to find the flaws your own team missed. They’re competing against you, not writing your launch announcement
Then show what failed, what got fixed, and whether those fixes survived another round of testing
Make that routine, not a one-off exercise
Less “please trust us.” More “here’s what happened when our rivals tried to prove us wrong”

Apparently since 1998, members of the World Trade Organization (WTO) have maintained a temporary Moratorium on Customs Duties on Electronic Transmissions. That's a long time for "temporary".
🚨 I KEEP HEARING THE SAME THREAT.
Raise the cost of H-1B?
“We’ll move the jobs to India.”
Require companies to hire Americans first?
“We’ll move the jobs to India.”
Tighten the H-1B program?
“We’ll move the jobs to India.”
Maybe lawmakers should start listening.
Because if the response to protecting American workers is simply to offshore the American job, then H-1B reform is only half the battle.
Congress should start looking at the other side of the equation:
the outsourcing of American jobs and the importation of foreign labor services back into the United States.
We impose tariffs and other trade measures on foreign goods to protect American economic interests.
Why should policymakers refuse to even consider analogous measures when an American job is replaced by labor performed overseas?
And notice what happened to the argument.
It went from:
“We need H-1B because we can’t find qualified Americans.”
to:
“If you make H-1B too expensive, we’ll move the job overseas.”
Those are not the same argument.
I wonder how many members of Congress enjoy being told: Give us access to foreign workers on our terms, or we’ll move the American jobs overseas.

Self driving cars use sensors not GPS for avoiding collisions. GPS is for finding your current location for general navigation and route planning purposes. Just as a person doesn't use GPS to avoid crashing into things.

I don't think it is good for reporters or pundits to be equating competitive trade policy with a country being an "adversary". Competitor maybe, but not adversary.
The US and Iran are at war. The US are enemies with Iran. It is a military conflict. The US is not at war with any other country at this time and it is best to keep it that way.
Using words of war regarding trade relations is dangerous.
Yes naval blockades do cross the line of war versus tariffs and sanctions.
The US competes with many countries for influence and resources without needing to be adversaries.
A reporter questions rudely President Trump's foreign policy decisions and gets schooled:
Reporter: "Why are you so focused on doing things like this towards America's allies instead of doing things that target adversaries?"
Trump: "The Canadian officials have treated us very badly; they're nasty people. They charge our farmers 400% tariffs. They've been doing it for a long time...Canada treats us very badly...They feel entitled, and we can't have that."

I enthusiastically endorse Yes on 3! Most of our primaries aren't competitive. We have a two party primary system with a one party state. The system is broken.
In competitive races the losing Democratic Party candidate will often get more votes than the primary winning Republican.
Better to have run offs with the highest vote getters than general elections where the most competitive candidates are already off the ballot.
Let the most popular candidates win.
